how low can i get it?

new guy here with a new project. i am buildin a 67/71 chev longbox and am baggin it. my question is how low can i get it using the stock trailing arms and stock spindles. i am running a 18in wheel with 40series tire. i am not trying to spend a lot on chassis stuff. i am using 4 2600lb bags and going to use a notch from suicide doors for the rear. any help will be appreciated!!

Re: how low can i get it?

Really no need for the big step notch from SD if you do not want to cut the bed. The t/a,s will hit the frame before you will need that large a notch.

They are AIM. Poor customer service after the sale is the number one complaint I've read about. Number two would be when you do have issues w/their products, apparently they make you pay the return shipping to get things right which is PR suicide IMO.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: how low can i get it?

Hey guys, just wanted to post, and say all 3 of us are looking to be going the same way. I have 2 inch blocks now, and will be keeping the arms, and everything, just bags in place of coils.

Forget the tires, I do love the wheels. I wanna know how far the front crossmember, and frame is from the ground.

Re: how low can i get it?

Frizzle Fry. Thats his wheel specs. guys.

Specs:
22x9 w/5.5" BS (5" BS would be better but they stopped making them)
305/40/22
20x8.5 w/5.25" BS
255/45/20

If I'm right here, that back tire is right around 32.7inches, unless I'm thinking of the 45.

Re: how low can i get it?

Thanks guys. How low it is? You want distance from the rockers to the ground? Unfortunately it's up on jack stands right now for a couple body mods and it won't be back on the ground until after the Dropmember goes in (you can see that it needs one bad in those pics). I think the rear rockers are about 4" from the ground though.

My tubs are modified. They would not have fit with the stock tubs both in height and width (would rub inside even with a wider 1972 rear).

Re: how low can i get it?

ya i was told to get ones from an 18 wheeler but i was wondering if there is a way to keep mine and just extend them out so the tires will tuck. dont know if that makes sense but it sounds right in my head.
