Wheels adapters???
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone ever used a set of wheel adapters? I want to put a set of dodge ram wheels on my truck, but obviously they are the wrong bolt pattern.
Any advice? |

Re: Wheels adapters???
From my personal experience wheel adapters are not worth the money. I bought a set off the internet and after a week, literally 7days, the stud snapped.

Re: Wheels adapters???
Yeah, I kinda wondered about durability. I figure if one snapped I can always replace with grade 8 stuff from the local fastener company.
I dunno. Still up in the air about them. I wanna put either a set of 17" or 20" steelies on my truck. I work for dodge so i can get em for basically nothing. And dog-on wheel vintiques prices blow... |

I know of a guy on the H.A.M.B. that custom machines them.

Re: Wheels adapters???
I have used wheel adaptors on a fairly high horsepower application with no problems. I think they were from Skulte. They claim that they can handle 1000 or maybe even 1500 horsepower. So I would imagine they would work. But I'm not crazy about them either and was always worried about it.
Why don't you try and make the dodge brake parts work. You could probably use rear discs anyway right?

I'd like rear discs, but with the bolt pattern being off, that is the problem. The Rams have a spindle with a removable hub, not quite the same. Any ideas on a conversion? |

I haven't looked into it or anything, but you could possibly make the whole dodge spindle work. Or get some gm rotors drilled to the dodge bolt pattern. I don't even know the bolt pattern, but maybe there is another application that used it--that might be easier to make parts fit. In the rear--you just gotta find some axles that will work with the gm rear and the dodge brakes/bolt pattern. If you can't find any somebody can modify them or build them for you. If all else fails you could get the whole rearend from brake to brake and make that fit underneath your squarebody. If you have a welder you have a way. Maybe that is too much work for some 20" dodge spares. If somebody made a 20" trim ring and a center cap that looks right on a squarebody--I might consider it. But then again--maybe the adaptors aren't looking so bad after all
