Tell us how it goes if you end up there. I'm new to the Peninsula and am always looking for shops.

Re: chassis work

My guess is it would be worth the drive to look up Bob Grant @ Grant Fab in Oroville,CA. Not only is he well respected in the custom world but he is the creator of the Cal-Combo and a sheet metal GOD
As a bonus his soft spot is 67-72 chevys having done several including the original "comcept" crew-cab dually that was floating around for a while AND a heavily modified suburban.

Bob grant is the shiznit. Dang good work from him, and yeah he's done some sick work on 67-72's. There's always IF customs though if your gonna drive.

Not too many people know that Bob is(was?) married to Steve's sister Traci. They used to do a lot of stuff together. The "Skinned Alive" Toyota that was built by Steve during his Alter Images days was completely reskinned front to back by Bob. Unless you know what to look for you can't tell it wasn't OEM. The guy is Crazy skilled on the sheet metal. Steve Is a great guy too. He yacked with me for hours on the phone when I was building my 4Runner and he was building a 95 for his wife that was in Minitruckin.
Never worked with IF but their reputation and work are top notch. Don't think you'd go wrong with either of the 3. Bob still get's my first vote though.

Re: chassis work

i use to be a builder in Sacramento the only place if i were to take my truck to a place would be Larry @ innovativeairsuspension.com he is a great guy.. there arent to many really good shops around anymore.. if i were you i would look into a porter build suspension system and do it yourself its worth the money and it takes a lot of worries out of the build.. i use to have my own shop and i know a lot of the builders in the area.. the choppin block is another really good shop more towards the south area..

Larry did the tube work and built my notches for me, welded everything together, and shipped it to me as a one piece unit. All I had to do was drop it over the frame, weld it in, and finish the bottom part of the notch.

He also built a four link with cantilever set up for my friends truck before anyone had thought of making a kit. Top notch work, I would never hesitate to have him build something for me even though we are thousands of miles away from each other.
