Question 4.3throttle body on a 250 six

hey guys! I've got a 250 in a 72 sub with clifford 4 barrel manifold, lumport head,rv cam,and hedders and am thinking about using a throttle body off a 4.3. Was wondering if this would work and if any one has done this and if they could provide some info?

thanks in avance.

You might try Blu72(I think that's the right member name.He has done a TBI on a 350 from factory parts. He might be able to get you pointed in the right direction.

Haven't seen this swap on this site yet. I have seen that a few guys did this swap on the stovebolt.com site. Look under the 'HiPo' section. Several are under construction so you might pick up some tips. The screen name 'efi-diy' is really good with the ECM. He just dropped a new 4300 in a 51 Chevy truck.

Re: 4.3throttle body on a 250 six

I had a 40 Plymouth sedan with a 57 chevy 235 bored .080 and an Isky cam. I did multiport injection with a clifford intake and all the stuff from a 94 F250 4.9 5speed.
anything is possible.

Anything is possible with just two things. Time and money. Megasquirt has a stand-alone computer that will run just about anything. It might be a little pricey, however. It just depends how crazy you want to get!

Re: 4.3throttle body on a 250 six

I have read that multi-port FI is tough on the inlines because of the siamese ports and firing order. Most people do TBI from what I have read.

I would love to see a write up on 235 multiport though.

Re: 4.3throttle body on a 250 six

Do a google search for binder bulletin, there are a ton of guys who have done this with IH Scouts and had good luck with it. They are putting them in their IH inlines either with or without the electronic distributor, and it works great. The injectors and the ECM are really the only pieces that have to be closely matched to your engine, and since the GM inline is close to the 4.3 CID-wise, it should be fairly easy. There are hundreds of companies that can burn you a new PROM (chip) for the ECM, so that's easy too.

Check out www.inliners.org
A guy with the handfle, "efi-diy" has a few posts about similiar set-ups. Look on the "High-Performance" and "Forced Induction" forums there.

It's working fine for me right now, however it's an unreliable forum.

Re: 4.3throttle body on a 250 six

I can bring it up, but I can't post on it. I called the webmaster, he was busy, about to haul out to Bonneville for the weekend. Something about my firewall blocking my posting. [?] I can understand priorities, but I pay dues to I/I.
