manual trans problem
ok i just got this truck not to long ago its a 1991 4x4 gmc with a tbi 350 n 5 speed trans and when i got it i was told it had a recent clutch in it and the motor has around 7000 mile on it. anyway my problem is that recently it has been im possible to get in to gear when i start it but if i started in gear once i started moving it would start to shift fine but if i let it sit for more than an hour or so it would start all over again and today i changed the fluid in the trans and in the clutch line and after that i went to watch the local mud boggs and it sat for about five hours and when i got in it to go home and i couldnt even get it to go into gear when i tried starting it it moved the truck. and i couldn't even pump up any pressure. what me n my dad are thinking is that it may be the clutch line? i see no leaks by the slave or master cylinder or even inside the truck. what im thinking is that i it might be letting air into the line while it sits?
what do yal think?

Re: manual trans problem
This may sound dumb, but did you bleed the clutch cylinders? It sounds from what you saying that the clutch is not engaging. I know on the S10 the slave cylinder is inside the bell housing, but I can't remember about where the slave was on my 92 C1500.
The S10 I had acted like yours, but I was lazy for a long time and babied it so I wouldn't have to pull the housing to change it. I sold it to someone else and helped him change it.

Re: manual trans problem
Yeah there is a way to bleed the slave and master. And the slave is on the passenger side of the tranny, you can access it pretty easily. When I got my 88 with a 'new' cough cough tranny I had to bleed and replace all the fluid. I agree, I would bleed them. Check your reservoir also and monitor for any fluid loss after the change. Also consider the slave may be 'going', and as I hear, they are usually the first of the two to die.....(cry) good luck.

Re: manual trans problem
It is sounding more to me like the slave or master (or both) cylinder are bad on the clutch.
