New in the box vacuum gauge. Looks like the paint on the needle was chipped and touched back up. Will not notice once installed. $45 shipped in US.

It should work, right? Why doesn't it return to zero? Where is the needle touched up (part of the needle that shows or doesn't show once it is installed)?

If it works I'll take it.

It should work - it is new and has never been installed. The chip is about 1/4 way up the needle and would be seen but you would have to get eye level with the gauge panel and look real close to see it. About the zero - not sure about that. I did attach a picture I got off a major 67-72 truck parts seller and you can see their gauge is off too.

I'm uneasy about it not returning to zero because I'm not knowledgeable. Could an expert weigh in on this?

My after market vac gauge goes back to zero when turned off.

These guages are delicate and will get off zero in handling and shipping. You can see what to tweak on the back side of guage to put it back on zero very easy.
