67 C10 - Cherry Popper
Hey everyone, I'm very new to the 67-72 truck scene and this will be my first truck build ever. I have always needed a truck to go get parts for my various projects cars as well as random errands that involve towing or hauling something so I thought this would be a useful project as well once finished.
Anyway onto the truck. It's a '67 farm truck that I got out in Abeline for $700 and for the most part I think it's a good starter truck for me to pop my cherry. It didn't come with a bed, which is ok, but I will get a good fleetside in the future when I'm ready and when the budget allows. |

Re: 67 C10 - Cherry Popper
I've already spent some time tearing the thing down to a bare frame so I can sandblast it to see what I have and then prime and paint it. I got a quote on powder but it was going to be about $650 so I passed, I mean it's lasted 40 years already so paint can't be that bad.

Re: 67 C10 - Cherry Popper
Continued the tear down of the suspension and getting ready to sandblast everything. The truck came with a 5 lug in the back already and the parts to do a PS steering swap and 5 lug disk swap too.

Re: 67 C10 - Cherry Popper
Started sandblasting last weekend I think. It sucks and takes a while but isn't too bad when you look at the finished product. As of today I've got the trailing arms done, upper and lower control arms and about 70% of the frame done and in primer. Here are a few pics of the trailing arms, I don't have pics from this past weekend's work though.

Re: 67 C10 - Cherry Popper
I also picked up my old engine from the shop after getting freshened up. It's a LT1 that I use to have in my 97 Camaro before I went back to stock. I'm using the same cam, but a different set of heads so I'm not sure what kind of power it's going to make, but here is the dyno sheet from the last time it ran.
I also got a lot of extra parts needed for the engine by trading on of my AR15's. I got a 4L60E in the deal with stall so I think I'm good to go as far as all the wiring harnesses and parts needed. Here is a picture of the AR I traded and some of the parts I got in return. |

I live by Vista Ridge mall currently, but have lived in the Flower Mound/Lewisville/Coppell area since I was about 6. The truck is out in Flower Mound at my parents place, I don't have any room at the apt. complex, I already have three garages with projects and tools currently

Re: 67 C10 - Cherry Popper
no, all different, sbc, bbc, 250 inline, 292 inline (different pass. side mount) you could probably use them for a sbc, but sbc ones are easy to find and you could prob. get $100 or so for those.

Re: 67 C10 - Cherry Popper
More progress this weekend worth mentioning. I have the frame flipped over so I can start work on the bottom. Trans crossmember is painted along with the control arms and the engine cradle is in bare metal but I ran out of primer so I'll have to wait until next weekend. Hopefully by the end of November I will have it into a rolling chassis but we'll see how that goes only working on the weekends. Anyway onto the pics.

Re: 67 C10 - Cherry Popper
More progress. Not going to be able to get it in rolling chassis before Thanksgiving with Christmas shopping and all so hopefully I'll get trucks parts for my Christmas present I could use some bags and brakes, lol.

Re: 67 C10 - Cherry Popper
Those mounts on his frame are 68-71 big block mounts for sure.
The mounts the 67chevytruck posted are 72 only big block mounts.
