To the guys that build there own frames

this is mainly directed toward the guys that build there own frames, but if anyone else know jump right in, and let me know.

HOW DO YOU GET THE TRUCKS TITLED AND LICENSED? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO?

i am wanting to build my own frame, but don't want to hassle with it, if it will be a pain in the butt.

thanks
tim

Anytime I have registered a vehile here in TX they have never looked at my vehicle. They just make sure the paperwork is correct and hand me plates.

Washington's same way. They only argued about the blue book on it, they didn't care about the truck itself.

Re: To the guys that build there own frames

Here in Ohio, the only issue is "proof". If you could prove that you had the old frame and maybe show that you bought the tubing for the new one, you would be ok. Really the only time this would come into play is if you actually declared that you did anything to it, or if it came up during an inspection because of a title transfer/sale.
At that point, after you sufficiently proved that there were no stolen parts involved, they would stamp a new number on the frame. This would then be added to the title and those parts would "belong" together.

Then-again this may all be pointless because of the year. Somewhere along the way the laws may be different for vehicles of certain age.

Exactly. I told the lady I purchased my 65 for $400 and she questioned it. I had to literally produce the Craigslist ad which I had with me along with the bill of sale to prove it.

I think as long as you don't advertise your rolling on something custom nobody would ever know. I think the only person that would question it is if you had a failure would be your insurance company.
