Question 6 lug. distance lug to lug ??

Planning on ordering some wheels (finally)

what is the stock distance on 6 bolt rims lug to lug ? 5.5" ?

What is standard back spacing that would sit the wheel nice??
The truck is on bags.

Cheers

Re: 6 lug. distance lug to lug ??

yes, that's the bolt pattern, 6 on 5.5.

As for backspacing, I have a statically-lowered truck with 15's. The fronts are 8-inches wide with a 4-inch backspace. The rears are 10-inches wide with a 5-inch backspace. The fronts clear the lower control arms without any issues.

Re: 6 lug. distance lug to lug ??

I'll have to do some measuring then for back space.....

One more thing does anybody know how many inches the center hubs are...Save me taking the tire off right now.
I think the front is the one that causes the problems....

Re: 6 lug. distance lug to lug ??

Most aftermarket wheels for these trucks will have a 4" centerbore. The 78.3mm (about 3.08") wheels will NOT fit over the hubs! I have machined them to fit but it is a pain in the butt...

Just make sure the centerbore is over 3.825 and you fill be fine.

Re: 6 lug. distance lug to lug ??

3.825 sweet thanks man.

now just have to get this backspacing down......

6 lug 5.5" pattern
3.825 center bore
? backspacing They all seem to be from 4.5 to 6.2

Going with 18X 9-10 " rims
with 275/35/18 rubber

Re: 6 lug. distance lug to lug ??

Well, I have 5" backspacing on my rearend and the tires are real close to the inner fenderwell. I would think you would be fine with a 4.5 but a 4 would be better...

No. it's an eight, but a backspace is measured from the inside edge so a 5" backspace on an eight and a 5" on a ten will put the inside rim of the wheels in the same place.

No, measure from the inside rim (toward the rearend) to the mounting face

Re: 6 lug. distance lug to lug ??

I dont know how much you read on that web page, but I just wanted to make a comment.

The top image is not correct. Rim width is not measured from the overall width. Rim width is measured from the inside measurement of where the tire mounts.

For example, if that rim(as pictured, without the tire) measured actually10" wide total, it should be labled as a 9" rim. Generally, the outer lip contributes 1/2" on each side to the wheel measurement.

However, wheel backspacing is measured to the outermost lip of the wheel, as pictured.

Just wanted to clarify. Hope that didnt confuse you any.

Re: 6 lug. distance lug to lug ??

Yes!!! Exactly. Its not as critical with the fullsize being much larger, but I know on my s10, we like to cram as much wheel/tire under them as we can. That 1" difference from that pic being wrong is the difference between fitting, or cutting into the fender horribly.
