Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
I loved that show when I was a kid. I even had a Fall Guy hotwheel toy truck. I don`t think it was a real hotwheel but some brand. I didn`t know anything about these old trucks then which were actually new then. I just noticed after watching the video that some of those trucks were pre 81. They have the squared off fenders instead of the sloped frontends. I wonder how many trucks they actually went through while making that show.

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
The Fall guy TV show season 1 is available on DVD. It came out in June of 2007. I bought it the day that it came out! I was 15 when the show first aired and I still love it! Don't forget about Heather Thomas guys. She's as awesome as the truck! ...Joe

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
Better review those vids again. I don't think that GMC got up and drove away unscathed either.
Cool link guys.

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
The sequence starting at 1:16 with the rocket in the bed is soooo cheesy and bad. I loved that show so much, I remember thinking in elementary school that there was no problem in the world that couldn't be solved by jumping that truck over it!

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
Hey guys if you buy or rent the season 1 DVD set Lee Majors talks about how much they had to modify those trucks to make them jump like they did. They moved the engines back into the cab, removed the front driveshaft, removed the axles and gears from the front differential to lighten the front end as much as they could so that it wouldn't land so hard on the front to try to keep them from breaking parts quite as often.
They had GM engineers helping them out along the way. The DVD that talks about the making of the show was quite informative and very interesting. They made a very heavy and fairly tall for it's time truck do things that it was never designed to do. They eventually went from the actual trucks for the jump scenes to models, but it was a good entertaining show anyway in my opinion. If you get a chance, check out the season 1 DVD box set, it's worth the price of admission! Can't wait until they put the other seasons of the Fall Guy on DVD! ...Joe

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
What year was that truck again?? I saw everything from what appears to be a 79 all the way to a mid 80's truck. Hahah, still fun to watch.

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
Thanks for posting that. I loved that show as a little kid and it was mainly due to that truck...ok, I liked the girl, too. I think my not quite 2 year old son liked the video, too. Everytime the truck would come crashing through something he would go, "Ohhhhhhhh!" and then clap. That's my boy!!

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
I remember watching that show when I was a kid. I do recall one time the truck was jumping a canyon or something and you could see Tonka stamped on the tailgate LOL. Oh well it was still one of my favorite shows.

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
They used quite a few model years of the trucks for the stunts all right! The show ran from 1981-1986 so it had a lot of different years of GMCs in it. The first one was a 1980 with square headlights. This show was kind of like the Dukes Of Hazzard in a way, since it sent a lot of GMC 4x4s, and a few 2wds that they had lifted with 1 ton front springs and body lifts straight to GM heaven! Good thing that GM made as many of these trucks as they did! ...Joe

Yeah, I think that this one would have sent it back to the alignment shop!

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
If you notice when the truck is jumping through that construction zone you can clearly see that from the side view they show that the engine isn't where it's supposed to be.
I also noticed the Tonka truck in another jump. Things I didn't notice when the show first aired many years ago, but find interesting now since I know how they did a lot of stuff with the trucks. Kind of makes me cringe everytime I see one of those trucks get destroyed, but it was great TV for it's time, and I still enjoy watching it! ...Joe

Re: Found Fall Guy truck jumping video
Yeah, later in the series they made a custom 'jump truck' with a mid-mounted engine. . .
