block lift
allright guys i'll finally admit that my stubborness over addaleaf to block lift is finally over. My truck with it's add a leaf is just to "jittery" for city streets and decided to jar my spine whenever i go wheeling..
soo where is the reccomended place to get a simple block lift to replace my add a leaf? im only lookin at 2 in.. or 3.. not sure... thanks!

Just buy one from 4-wheel parts. you will need the u-bolt kit to go with it.

I read somewhere that using blocks on the front is not safe. |

AutoZone has lift block kits for about $25. The blocks are aluminum.

ahhh allright
guess i'll jsut ron some ont he rear.. it'll be a short while before i do actually get off myb utt to do it though... it's mainly the rear end that dances... thanks for the input also my truc never sees any well. "heavy duty" use besides mudding .. it's my pretty baby for destroying perfectly good ground =-)

What brand of Add-a leaf kit did you use? I have never heard of anyone complaining about them, other than they should have gotten a lift kit instead, because it wasn't high enough.
As the others have said, no blocks on the front. They are not safe in the first place, and every one I have ever taken off has been a tapered block too. This is doublly wrong. The blocks amplify steering forces just being there, but when tapered blocks are used to tilt the pinion up, they change the caster angle of the steering. Negative caster will make the truck hard to drive. It will wander all over the place and the steering will not want to re-center after a turn. IIRC, you have already broken an axle in this truck, which leads me to believe that you are pretty aggressive with this truck off-road. This is an even better reason NOT to use blocks. |

well im nto sure which one it is really (long hair) and good memory dude..
i put the leafs on a while ago for my buddy and put the motor in for him, but i wasnt the one buying the parts, but i put them on... diddnt ahve a interest in buying the truck from him when i was doing the work. my major complaint is that the rear dances entirley too much when braking in regular road traffic, i have the axels n brakes off an 84 suburban, so they r corp 10 front, and 14bolt SF rear, im running procomp 37' radials (which i kinda regret but i got all starreyed and just had to have them) but these tires r bad ass.. to say it politely.. so what then is causing my truck to be so spine jarring while driving? oh tire pressure is down to 35 psi as per reccomendations of procomp.. it helped but not alot

To help you out and make sure you stay away from blocks in the front, I'm gonna offer you a used set of 73-up front springs for free, you pay shipping. These springs were on my 70 K5 when I bought it and although I have no idea of the manufacturer, I'm sure they must be 4" springs for the 73-up as they are longer than they should be for a 70 truck. I have no idea how old they are and when I removed both springs I had to cut the front spring hanger bolt as they were seized in the spring. As such, you would have a little work ahead of you getting the cut, seized bolts out of the front spring eye. PM me if you want these and I'll give you a rough guess on what shipping would run you.

there are short and long add-a-leafs... longer would be smoother I would guess. combine those with an ORD zero-rate leaf and you can get 2-3" easily... and safely

Yea blocks in the front is just plain not safe. I would never do it either. Blocks are meant for the rear and add a leafs or arched springs for the front.

Maybe I missed it but why not just buy an all spring lift?
If it's due to cost, you've got until the new year to save some cash...right? Seams like to best choice IMO, no more harse ride and no more blocks to chuck. Win/win for you. |

the leafs were new when i bought it... buddy abouthg them a few months prior..
just gonna block the back the fronts okay.. would really like mreo articulation while mudding... so it's not so harsh when hit dry ruts or drive a trail.. what would be awsome is if my wife would get in my truck more often she asked me to put on steps for her (wuss) and she never rides in it ugggghhh..
