I guess I am now officially a "Junky"

I was walking in to work today and where I park is a block away from work and this guy yells, “Hey man, nice truck” (he is leaning against his 72) So I yell back, “hey you too!” he says, “If you think this truck is nice, boy have I got the deal for you. Cheap”

Details:

350/350 body very rough and engine fresh, tranny solid, GMC 2 wheel drive ¾ ton long bed, Interior ok. Newly hung exhaust, power steering, power breaks,

He cry’s, gambling dept. no job, retired marine, disability, bla bla bla. While I inspect the title, everything is ok.

While I’m driving it he tells me, “First $500 takes it” and ask him if he has any dope stashed in the dash or anything. He says, “Nope, never touch the stuff”

I get out and kick the tires and tell him I’m not in the market and ho hum around a little and then say $400.00

He cusses and spits and grumbles yells at me “$450.00 you @ss hole!”

I say “$400.00, and you got the cash in 15 minutes”
He cusses and spits and grumbles yells at me, “Fine! But don’t cut it up or anything!”

Wow, 4 hours later and I’m still in shock. I keep thinking, what Am I going to do with another truck. An then another voice says so the ‘f ’ what, have fun with it. I guess I better quit refering to GMC's as "Gay Man's Cruser" now, LOL… Pete

Its a 72, I haven't looked at the options listed on it yet. The deal went to quick. I was late for work, I will look tonight when I get home.

I think I like the grill already. If you would have asked me this morning I would have told you I hate GMC grills. LOL

Life is funny, I was not even looking and didn't even want another truck this morning. Now I couldn't live with out it. Boy its gonna need a lot of work to get it looking good on the outside.

Its an oregon truck but the cab corners look better than the ones on my 68 which has spent most of its life in Nevada. I think the cab on the 72 is better shape than my 68's. Werid day, I must be still dreaming... Pete.

I spent most of the day at the DMV but I got the title squared away. All mine now.

Here are the options as listed, but I don't know what options are rare because I have never seen the sticker left on one of these trucks before. luckly it was on this one. Its cool and in very nice condition. I also don't know how accurate the info is because seems like all you have to do is swap glove box doors with another truck and the info would be for another truck. Anyway:

camper-mirr-stainless
r susp-leaf spring
350 cid v-8 engine
power steering
cigerette lighter
front bumper crome
amp-oil-temp gage
green vinyl trim
dome lamp switch
front stabilizer
42 amp delco gen
turbo hydra-matic
heavy duty battery
am-p/button radio
full foam seat
med green

Any of that sound rare to any of you?

I will be spending the next couple of weeks scraping off crappy bumper stickers so I am not ashamed to drive it. LOL. This truck is defenatly not much to look at but drives like a draem compared to the 68. I was over joyed the first time I went to flip a u-turn in it and didn't have to back up... Pete.

If you want to make sure that the sticker is for that pickup, compare the VIN numbers. The sticker has the VIN at the top, just compare it to the one on the door jam.

Bummer, The vin on the cab dosn't match the one on the glove box door. It looks like the glove box door is from a 69... Pete.

Well, I am still not sure the long turn plan for the 72...

It is in great shape mechanicly and basicly just needs a tranny Rebuild. Everything else apears to be solid. As a mater of fact the paint on the engine looks great (Chevy Orange) and it has a eldelbrock manifold and carb already. The drive shaft is tight and the rearend was just rebuilt. (still has chalk marks on it) If kept, I would probobly just throw some headers on there with massive pipes and call it a day.

To bring it back to life cosmeticly it needs the following:

A replacement bed ( I will use that 72 bed I took off my other truck 4 months ago it just needs a few patches welded in the floor)
A tail gate (missing)
A set of door skins (grossy misstreated)
A Grill (slightly mangled, might convert to chevy, sorry GMC fans)
A hood (would get 4 inch cowl replacement hood)
A new cowl piece
One front fender
And I would drop the living $hit out of it and shave the rest
I think the cab itself is in great shape.

I am still in shock, I might end up doing a build up on it and selling my 68. I cant belive I payed 1800 for my 68 and right now according to recipts I have $2975.23 invested in it. I am way over margin for whats it's worth now and still have a few thousand dollars and a lot of knuckle busting work before I finish the body work and paint it. The 68 is like a money pit. So right now Its time for me to think real hard about the future of these two trucks... Pete.

That truck does make the GMC grill look sharp. NICE.
And I really like the look of the turn signal lamps centered under the dual headlights... Pete.
