Re: c20/custom camper rear brakes
During this era, the c 20 used 2 different rear axles. The round one is the Eaton( looks like a Ford 9" ) and the triangle shaped one is the Dana. A better auto parts store should have asked which one you had before giving you the parts.

Re: c20/custom camper rear brakes
Napa will have your parts,or can get them.Which axle do you have? Is it Corporate/Eaton(round) or Dana(uh,not round?)? Do you have leaf or coil springs?Par for the course is leaf/Dana60 or coil/Eaton HO52.
Although 3/4t GM trucks are common, these parts don`t carry over past`72.So,they aren`t all over the place. It might take a couple tries.Bring your parts.Take notice of how the brake line hole exits the wheel cylinder. It`sdifferent with coil and leaf.Measure the shoes.Don`t assume what they pull up is right. They can see what shoe size that part# is to varify.

Re: c20/custom camper rear brakes
I have never had any trouble finding the brake parts for any of mine......you just have to be smarter than the people behind the counter. If the computer does not show it and they dont go to the book....ask them to do it. Carquest and Napa always have them BUT Napa will be 40 to 125% higher than everyone else.

Re: c20/custom camper rear brakes
If possible, I ALWAYS take my old parts in with me to compare them. I recently got a 93 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 back on the road and had to completely go through the brakes. Half the time, they had to know if it had JL8 or JL6 brakes, etc, etc, and hell, I don't know. I would say "Here are the old Shoes and master cylnder. Match them up!" and the other half, they just plain pulled the wrong parts based on the computer. Since I had old parts, I always left with the right parts. I get the heebie jeebies thinking about how bad someone could screw up sending the right parts bought on the internet. I recently rebuilt a 1 barrel Holley on a 1962 Mercury Comet S-22 170 6 cylinder. Autozone, Advance and O'reilly only sold rebuilt carbs, ($150!) not kits. The counter monkeys all said "No one makes a kit". I said " I think you mean your company does not sell a kit becauce they are pushing a whole carb. Someone has to make the kit that they used to rebuild the $150 carb you are trying to sell me!". Deer in the headlights look was their response. I went to a locally owned independent parts house the next town over and they found me a kit and float for $24. I should learn by now to bypass the big places all together when it come to old stuff. It is hard to quit "Bauto" Zone, as they give a $20 reward for every $120 I spend...

Re: c20/custom camper rear brakes
I just did brakes all the way around, along with the different rear end, measure the diameter of the brake drum, there are two, One is 12 inch and the other is 11 5/32. Mine is 12 inch. Autozone, Duralast part number 419. 34.00 a set
If you have the 11 5/32 then it is Duralast part No. 450. 30 bucks a set.
