np203 in a 69 k10

I am trying to install a 203 transfer case with a th400 out of a 77 chevy in my 69 k10. The 203 hits the floor of the cab, so I thought about making spacers to drop the crossmember but then my distributer (H.E.I) hits the fire wall and I don't really want to do a body lift. I'm sure I'm not the first to put a 203 in a 67-72, so I'm just curious what others have done.

I thought about cutting the floor, but the only problem is that where it needs to be cut is right on the seem of the tranny hump.

Re: np203 in a 69 k10

you have a highhump floor? Can you make a metal cover for the cut? As long as it doesn't hit your seat then you should be good...

How much is hitting? You could extend the high hump with a little fab work...

When the 203 hits the floor the cross member still needs to go up about an inch. I'm not sure how much clearance is needed between the floor and transfer case, but yes it is a high hump.

I have a high hump from 77 w/203(yellow), if you want to do some grafting.
Shown here next to a high hump from a 72 w/205.

Re: np203 in a 69 k10

I just put new cab mounts on it a few years ago, but I only drove it a few hundred miles since then. Thanks for the offer Cyclone, I work over in Sonoma once in awhile so if I decide to go that route I will let you know.

Re: np203 in a 69 k10

if you are using the crossmember originally under your rockwell, it must be spaced down a little. i went through the same thing years ago when i put a 205 in my 69. i'm sure someone here has a 205 crossmember that they will sell you.

Re: np203 in a 69 k10

Yes I am using the rockwell crossmember but I still need a little more room than the stock spacer's allow. Is there a difference between 6cyl. engine mount's and a v-8's? I know there's a difference on 2wd's, and I pulled out a straight 6.

Re: np203 in a 69 k10

which 6 cyl. do you have? 292 cradle is totally different but not sure on a 250 cradle. 292 cradle is on an angle while a V-8 cradle is straight across.
