This is the weld that gm made and they are almost gone.

My 71 is pretty rusty in that spot....Ive heard its best to replace the roof from the A pillars up cause that rust is hard to stop up top...or option B depending on what your willing to do is to just swap to a less rust cab

that is no easy fix to attack at the problem spot. its either when you need to shave the rails get a better cab or find a good section of another cab and pray you can make it fit right.

ot just add a whole lot of metal and break out your grinders dremels and patience.

Mine has some rust up there. I removed the drip rail, repaired the rust, reinstalled the drip rail and in some spots where i have some pinholes im welding up and grinding... Not fun.

I was told I would have to bondo it up. I wish when my dad had it painted way back when he could had it done better.

well my truck was and is a perfect example of a "painters truck" i have done more metal work than i can shake a tungsten at..

He just about body filled the whole driprail and untill i put the truck indoors there was a new crack everymonth.
