Squeaky Belts!!!

ARGGGH!

Help me y'all. One day my truck is sounding perfect and the next day I have noisy belts! I've replaced my AC belt and the noise is still there. Do belts just go bad overnight? Belt dressing just makes the noise worse.

Anyone has any ideas?

Re: Squeaky Belts!!!

one of them isn't tight enough or a braket has come loose or bent making alignment not true

Re: Squeaky Belts!!!

To find out which belt if you don't know spray water on them one at a time. Then take some sand paper to the pulley and the belt...should take care of it.

Re: Squeaky Belts!!!

I am guessing one is loose or a little bit out of alignment.

Re: Squeaky Belts!!!

Someone else locally told me about the water/sandpaper trick but i didn't believe it. I'll have to work on it this weekend because it is dark when i go to work and dark when i get home.

How will i know it's out of alignment?

I'll report back with my findings on Saturday morning.

The darn alternator belt was frayed on one side. I replaced it with a new Dayco and no chirping so far. I did sand the pulleys while i had it off so maybe it was a combination of the new belt and the sanding.
