Help! Heater blower ground?

... what is the best way to ground the heater blower motor ground. I tried running a ground to the peg that holds the blower motor to the body but burned up the ground wire as soon as I hooked the battery negative terminal back up. Where do I place the ground? Also, what gauge wire should I use or any tips on the heater system in general.

If you are burning up the ground wire you ahve more problems than where to put the ground! The ground wire should run to the screw at the 1:00 position, holding the motor in...for an AC truck, I am not sure on a no AC truck.

I don't have a picture on my computer but like Bill said, from the screw at the 1 0'clock position on the blower motor to the screw right above it that bolts the fiberglass housing to the firewall. I just put mine back on this evening. The wire is about 6" long and I think it is a 12 gauge black wire. If you burned the ground wire up you are definitely hooking something up wrong or you have a dead short somewhere.

Just remove the truck wiring from the blower motor. run a ground lead directly from the battery to the ground wire and run a wire from the + side of the battery to the hot terminal on the blower motor. It should spin. If it works this way then you know it is a problem within the truck harness.
