My 67-72 Non-delux side marker LED conversion
I came up with this idea the other day and thought I'd try it. I am no where near needing lights of any kind yet but while rummaging throught my parts box I stumbled accross the marker lights and this idea popped in my head. This conversion will allow you to use the original style Non delux side marker lights like this one.
First I ordered a printed circuit LED from www.v-leds.com I ordered part number 1157_CB_A. This one is for the amber lense. This would work for the rear red ones too. Here are the links to both the amber and red lights: http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481 http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481 Here is what I got when it came in It uses a standard 1157 connection so you will have to modify the wiring on your truck just a bit. Any parts store should be able to provide you with a 1157 pigtail. That shouldn't be a big deal really. Next is to take the lenses off of the base. I have not tried this with a new light assembly yet but the old ones popped right off by prying a little with a screwdriver (Old glue I guess). I wanted to see if this worked at all before I tried it on new lights. Also, drill a hole in the back of the base for the 1157 connector to go through. Next, insert the light into the housing. This took a little finess. The LED is just slightly bigger than the housing and needs just a tiny bit of sanding to get it to fit. No biggie there. Here is what it looks like installed. Next, make sure the LED's are flush with the housing and then glue the lense back on. You'll also have to use some silicone or epoxy or something to seal the hole in the back. Water inside would not be good. The finished product

Disclaimer:
This is in no way trying to supercede those that are making lights and selling them. This is just an option to the do-it-yourselfers that want to keep a stock style light. I didn't like the van markers and I don't relly like the delux markers all that well. This was MY solution only.
