Current 85 C10 we are working on
Zack brought this one from Columbus for full shave(started by another shop in his city, Total Customs) widened wheel tubs in bed, one piece side windows, flipped gate handle, rollpan, and a 50" led in gate and slick deep black paintjob(may be adding some one off airbrushed trim)

Re: Current 85 C10 we are working on
Test fit the bed
Bed is in epoxy and is being bodyworked marked and cut holes for leds and cut back skin out to do flush skin with flipped handle and led access. Also new bed bolts came in so we can bolt it down and shim to line up with cab for bodywork reinforcing doors since they are so flimsy at the top and then we had to cut out a brace for one piece windows so it got even worse. Also worked half a day shimming and adjusting panels to get everything close before bodywork. Now working on welding and grinding door edges and jambs to get the gaps perfect.

Re: Current 85 C10 we are working on
Baxter worked on getting cab panels lined up with door and bed and also worked on correcting ****ty gaps on right side door(drivers side way worse gonna work it tomorrow) and got alot of the bodywork on right side ruffed in
ive noticed on these trucks is bed and doors line up but cab rolls in so bed sticks out further we are modifying to make it lineup

Re: Current 85 C10 we are working on
Baxter got the cab post welded up and bodyworked and pretty much finished out right side today
Left side gapped and roughed in ready for final putty and blocking Baxter just about has the cab and front cap ready for polyester primer....

Re: Current 85 C10 we are working on
No you do not. Some cheap aftermarket doors are flimsy and it is recommended that an angle be added to the door for bracing. most aftermarket and all Factory doors don't have this problem.

Re: Current 85 C10 we are working on
Those are factory doors and everyone ive ever seen is flimsy espcecially when the tab is cut out for one piece windows.

Re: Current 85 C10 we are working on
Oh and these trucks have some of the worst door gaps from the factory that ive seen. We have looked at a good many very nice trucks of this style that the gaps werent fixed on and IMO it ruins all the work put into it if the gaps are taken care of.

Re: Current 85 C10 we are working on
So how did you go about fixing the bed to cab profile? I agree it does not look right from the factory.

Re: Current 85 C10 we are working on
We split it at the corner and moved it out then added a filler strip on back cab wall

Quote:
The door gaps are "good" (nice and big ) the panel fit is the WORST ever though. Most have issues with the front top corner above the vent sticking out, or the rear doing the same.

Re: Current 85 C10 we are working on
Polyester primer for first priming/blocking stage.....Notice how nice the gaps are and how sharp all the lines are on the truck. Baxter did a great job. This will be blocked with 180 then primed again with 2k urethane then blocked with 180 and primed again with 2k then finally blocked with 400 and final blocked with 800
