C6 Corvette Wheels on a 67-72???

Anyone see or have a 67-72 truck with the modern C6 wheels on it? I'm thinking about doing it, but wanted to get more info on how to go about doing so. I attached a couple pics of a truck I saw on Ebay once that had done it, but couldn't get the seller to respond to me about how. I know he had to use spacers, but I dont even know what size wheels he was running or what size spacers. Any help, pics, or info would be appreciated.

they look like 18's, but it's hard to tell. A friend of mine has a set on his S10,i can check and see what spacers he's using.

Re: C6 Corvette Wheels on a 67-72???

I don't have them on my truck, but I do have a corvette (c5).

First, the lug pattern is 5x4.75. The backspacing is huge, so you'll have to use large spacers to get them to look right.

There are a couple of sizes used depending on the model, but something like this (for the C6s): 18" in the front, 19" in the back. I wanna say 9.5" wide in the front and 10.5" wide in the back for the regular C6s. I think the Z06s are another inch wider.

Also, the 00+ C5s had a similar looking (thinner spokes) wheels in 17x8.5 and 18x9.5.

Personally, by the time you get the spacer/adapters and buy the corvette wheels, you're better off getting wheels that were meant to fit our trucks. At least you're not saving any money by using the corvette wheels. Good luck.

Re: C6 Corvette Wheels on a 67-72???

Thanks for the replies. Regarding cost, the wheels I was looking at are $650 a piece, so I'm pretty certain I can get out with this option a little cheaper. I found a set of C6 wheels on Ebay for 1300 Buy It Now shipped and they may go cheaper in auction. The wheels I'm looking at will set me back $2600. I'm hoping whatever adapters I need will be less than the other 1300.

Any other thoughts or info on this is welcome!

Re: C6 Corvette Wheels on a 67-72???

A good Quality Billet set of wheel adapters going from 6 lug to 5 x 4 3/4 will run you about 500.00 I recently checked that out. I have to agree, it seems like an awful lot of work to make something fit, when you could find some other alternatives that would be close to the C6 vette wheels that actually fit the truck for a much lower price. 650.00 a wheel is really high, what wheels are you looking at?

Re: C6 Corvette Wheels on a 67-72???

Another board member has the wheels I want. I've had a hard time finding anything else I like as much. They are Bonspeed Ramones priced at 650 each directly from Bonspeed (before shipping). Pic attached.

As for adapters, I still haven't confirmed they will be needed. Maybe just spacers. My truck is already converted to 5 lug. Just don't know if the C6 has the same bolt pattern or not. Do you know of any wheels that fit our truck with a similar look as the C6 wheels? Again, I appreciate all the feedback! I will take all of it I can get.

No need to wonder you will need adapters if you use factory Corvette wheels. They are 5 on 4 3/4" as has been mentioned a few times already.

This isn't exactly safe and illegal in most states anyway. Why put yourself and others at risk?

Re: C6 Corvette Wheels on a 67-72???

I guess that means I'm not 5 on 4 3/4? Not sure how to tell. I have 5 lug pattern, that's for sure. Thought maybe there was some brand symmetry.

Re: C6 Corvette Wheels on a 67-72???

I wasn't aware that using adapters or spacers is illegal or unsafe. Where can I find more info on that? I just know I've seen it done and I thought it looked pretty good.

The truck 5 lug pattern is 5x5
I think that the Vette wheels look cool, but they are just too impractical to use on a truck. If you do it, post up some pics and info so we can see how it went

Re: C6 Corvette Wheels on a 67-72???

I would think that spacers alter the center of gravity on your suspension components and would cause a lot of undue wear...kinda like those skateboard wheels some trucks & cars sport.

I've seen plenty of folks on the side of the road with broken ball joints and other front end problems.

Re: C6 Corvette Wheels on a 67-72???

This board rocks. I love all the feedback I am getting on this. Yeah, my problem is, I like the 5 star style that either stays the same width all the way down each spoke or that gets a little narrower as it gets towards the outside. Kinda the opposite of the ones Shawn posted. No offense to those wheels or that truck by any means. I think it looks really nice. I just happen to prefer going the other direction with the spoke width. Any other board members know of a wheel that looks a lot like the corvette wheel, but with the proper backspacing range for our trucks? I just haven't found anything quite like the C6 wheels or like the Bonspeed Ramones in the other pic I posted. This may verge on getting off topic, but I'm still not ruling out that I might have to go the C6 option unless I see another viable one.

I think its something to do with the color of the Vette wheels, chrome is awesome but I like the matte silver/gray color too

The first post. What year model bed is that and does a fleet side match up as good?

This is not the forum to be trying to buy nor sell, and if you are a nonsubscribed member, you aren't permitted to ask or offer anyways.

As for the bed question, that bed is off an 88 - 89 chevy, that the fleetside lines up worse than the stepside shown.

I have been running a 18" vet rim on my 1994 Caprice for 4 years now. I beat on that car like I stole it and never had any tire/wheel issues with it. I am running a 2.5" rear and 2" front spacer/adapter. I bolted these on my 1971 Chevy SWB and they looked great (sorry no pics).

Thanks, man. I still haven't ruled it out. Will definitely test fit now that I have a vette too. Easy to hold em up and see if I like the look.
