T-400 kickdown question
Doe anyone know what this kickdown fits? it came on a 67 chev with a 62 Impala 327 that had an aluminum intake on it.. It does not fit on a 2BBL nor on a Q-jet 4bbl manifold and is different than any I have seen..

Re: T-400 kickdown question
Wouldn't a 62 have an AFB on there? I'm 99% sure that was before the quadrajet days

Re: T-400 kickdown question
I've got one (sw & bracket) from a 67 327 w/ TH400. The bracket is a lot smaller than the one in the pic above.
BTW didn't the TH400 come out in 67? Last edited by 72lb4x4; 11-07-2008 at 10:38 PM. |

Andy, If I remember correctly, before 67 they used a Rochester "4" jet or a Carter WCFB. and an AFB on the Vettes and hi horspower 327's, I think the T400 came out in 67 and used a Q-jet.. I have a kickdown off of a 2bbl.. and one off of a 6cyl all T-400, both are different that the one pictured, Has anyone have or seen one on a GMC V6?? |

Re: T-400 kickdown question
This is mine off my '69 with a Q-jet, the bracket is much bigger but the switch appears the same. Maybe what you have is a mix and match, where they used the bracket from one to fit the switch or carb of another. Oh by the way this is my first post, haven't quite made it to the welcome page yet. Sorry the photo is so big, I wanted to see how it would register unaltered on this forum. Might come in handy for future posts.

Re: T-400 kickdown question
Hello Mike, first of all.. Welcome from Washington!! Thanks for the picture!!
That is the bracket that seems to be the most prevalent on our trucks from 67 - 70 , but every once in a while I run accross an oddball that stumps me.. |

Sorry, I am of no help Id'ing your pictured kickdown bracket in post one, I dont recall seeing that one before. Is there any chance that it could be an early BOP type trans kickdown bracket? As per your above request, I can share a few pictures of this type which was removed from a 67 GMC CamperCruiser that was parted earlier this year, it was an original 351 V-6/Th400 truck. |

Mel, Thanks for sharing the pictures! I have never run across one on a V6, Looking at your wiring I see GMC in 67 also took power from the windshield wiper, unlike 68-70 which went directly to the fuse box, did it run through the firewall just below the gas pedal linkage? I suppose mine could be off of a BOP product, guess I'll go check out that avenue and see what I can find Last edited by Livrat; 11-09-2008 at 10:30 AM. |

Re: T-400 kickdown question
Yes, it tapped into the wiper motor for it's power supply and came thru the firewall in the gas pedal/tail light harness plug area.

Re: T-400 kickdown question
I finally found out what the kickdown bracket fits.. its for a 65 - 67 car and truck application with a V8 with the Rochester 4 jet carb..(4GC) and not a Q-jet... thanks for all the replies!
