Vacuum Source for Brake Booster
I am installing a power brake booster on my son's 67 2wd Chevy. It has the 250 6 cylinder, where is a good source of vacuum? When I got the truck the PO said it was a reman engine so I don't know the year. Thanks for your help.

yep - what hdflstf said - in your pic, it's right above the silver colored exhaust collar - yours even appears to already have the hose barn installed in it.

Re: Vacuum Source for Brake Booster
you will have to have a different breather, the one you have will not work w/power brakes. i saw one on e bay yesterday, they have an off set that that moves the breather to the other side of the engine.

Re: Vacuum Source for Brake Booster
Hey Moose, what year booster are you using? And are you also installing the propertioning valve with it?
fyi: I installed pb on my all drum 68 many years ago (don't remember where I got it) but it made the brakes grabby. In other words, in a quick stop, the back brakes would lock up and scare the h-- out of everyone near me. It may be because I didn't install a proportioning valve with it, but for now I'm back to manual brakes until I get the right parts. |

Re: Vacuum Source for Brake Booster
Sorry I left out some info. I have an ECE disc conversion and ordered the booster from them. It has the prop valve and the booster pictured below. I saw the offset breather in the FS section, but it will have a 350 in there before next summer. I am thinking about going with the open element air cleaner available from Summit or Jegs
luvlegs-- Hose barn? Which part is that? |

No, it is not that circled piece. That is just a stud the accelerator linkage swivel attaches to on car applications. There is another threaded port just about 2 inches away to the left. It would be directly behind that black round thing in photo.
