Save the Rosette

I was able to take off my vin tag and save the rosette rivets that hold the tag on. I used a die grinder to grind the back of the rivet flush with the body then I used a small drill to push out the pin. I made a little pin puch out of a small drill bit (there isn't much room to swing a hammer in there) I used a needle nose vise grip to hold on to the punch. I placed tape over the rivet
(that's important if you don't you might not be able to find the rivet). A couple of swings and they pop out.

When you install use 4 rivets to line up the holes and mask around the vin tag. I would use 3M super 77 adhesive spray the vin tag and the body. Then use the rivets that you used to line up the holes to make sure that the holes line up for the rosette rivets. Use super glue to glue the rivets in place

Re: Save the Rosette

A very thin coat of urethane windshield sealer will do the trick, also. It holds like gorilla glue once it sets up.
