I was wondering what you guys think about me trading my 1969 cst shortbed for this 1970 lemans clone. This car has the original 350 2bbl with power drum brakes. And the ac needs a new compressor. 10bolt with peg leg rear. I just don't know what a lemans clone is worth. He's asking 24,900 for it. I know if it was originally a gto cloned to a judge it would be worth quite a bit. If i did trade i would have to find 400 or a 455 to replace the 350, and convert to disc brakes. I would also have to get the ac working and put a moser rearend under it. I need all the advice i can get because i've always wanted a gto judge clone being i can't ever afford an original. And i've had my truck for 18years and i have alot of memories with it. And my wife won't stand for me keeping both. Also if i dump this kind of money into this gto, would it actually go up more in value than my truck?

trading your truck for a clone in my opionion would be a mistake. i like the car but i think your truck is worth alot more than that car. maybe not in dollars but in sentimental value

It s a nice car but not that nice = they took a 8000 dollar car put a 5000 paint job on it and are asking way to much
FYI - I believe the rear bumper is in correct - I think they are to be chrome from all the 70 Judges I can find on the net
With the economy going south the 1st cars to lose value will be clones so this car is going down and not up
I would list your truck on a few GTO sites and see if you can get someone to bite with a real 70 GTO for a trade
You have a sharp truck that would make an easy trade to the right person
It will take some time but I think I would have to pass - this car is really not a clone - a clone should be 98% correct to the way a legit car was made from the factory

That's a hard choice. Your talking about dropping another 8 to 10k into the clone. Either way you will have a nice ride. Just make sure the clone isn't a problem that's looking for a new owner.

Look into what clones are selling for. They bring stupid money these days. As you pointed out, you'll never be able to afford a real one, in 5 to 10 years, you'll say you can never afford a clone.

the clone looks good but it doesnt have the hood tach. which I believe all judges had. Don't do it. Your truck is extremely nice and if you wanted a goat you could get one eventually. Your truck is original and not a clone. Clones dont seeem to hold their value and will always be a clone.

No, i don't want to sell it, just thought about trading for a 69 or 70 gto or one that i can clone to a judge. And if i did trade it will have to be rust free and worth as much as my truck. And these two years of gto's are the only ones that i would trade for. I guess what im trying to say is that it would be hard for me to just let my truck go. Wish i could have both lol.

I say don't do it. You're gonna have to put a lot of money into it and I don't think that is a fair deal to you.

I didn't vote, because it's just too tough of a decision. If I was in your shoes, I would try to find a way to put both in the garage, but I would have a hard time affording one of those right now.

A clone is nothing more than a "Fake" or an "imitation" that will never equal the "real" deal. Your truck is an original and I believe they will go up in value. Maybe not the value of a real muscle car but up never the less. I can afford my 70cst BB with all the goodies...but i could not afford a real muscle car. But my 70cst is the real deal and I am happy with my truck. You have truck forums...but do they have clone forums? The LeMans looks nice but it's a Lemans with a new paint job. You got to do what pleases you but you did ask for our advice. As been said...only the clones that are a 98% copy of the real deal are bringing crazy prices. Good Luck.

If i dumped 8 to 10k in this car, would it bring crazy prices? Or would it have to start out as a gto? If i did trade and placed 10k in this car i think that i would have around 30k in this car and would it still be a lemans or could i say it's a judge clone?

You have an awesome truck, and that is a pretty well done clone. Not perfect, but well done. It seems like a fair trade for both parties.

However if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't trade. I have been in the position to get rid of something of sentimental value and when I did, I ultimately regretted it.

Thats my 2 cents.

Why are you worried about what it's worth? If it's what you really want why are you already cinsidering selling it?

I've had my truck since 96 but if someone offered me a trade for decent first gen firebird ragtop... bye bye truck...
