i just purchased a 1963 gmc 4000. I am looking at installing a power steering conversion unit. Where do i begin? thanks dan

It is a moderately simple conversion and requires the following: Power steering conversion kit, including the frame backing plates and mounting hardware. Saginaw power steering pump, mounting brackets and hardware ('68-'86). Saginaw power steering gear box with high pressure and return hoses ('68-'86). Rag joint (correct splined end to fit the power steering gear box). Pitman arm (correct to fit the power steering gear box). "V" belt for power steering pump. The complete kits are available at: www.carsteering.com www.classicperform.com The power steering conversion brackets are available at: www.classicparts.com www.lmctruck.com www.bowtiebits.com and several other aftermarket truck parts suppliers. I have also purchased the complete kit on eBay. When purchasing the complete kit, as well as the conversion bracket kit, you will be provided with a good set of "play-by-play" instructions...which will help you with the modification. I prefer the complete kit from Classic Performance Products or carsteering.com, because they take all the guess work out of determining which parts are needed and are compatible with each other. I have purchased the complete kit for under $500.00 and although it was a little pricey, it was worth it because I didn't make numerous trips to the auto parts store for hardware, hoses and belts.
