Another high beam question

I have a small problem on my 86 K20. I checked all of my grounds and checked wires but dont find anything split, frayed (sp) or generally not right. When I turn on my low beams the high's stay on just barely. With the high beams turned on all four lights are on, which is correct right? IAny ideas?

You don't have H1 or H4 bulbs by any chance do you? I had the same problem when I converted to H1 and H4 bulbs. The only fix I found was to rewire the bulbs so that I only had one set on for low and the other for high.

If you have stock bulbs this explanation probably isn't much help.

All 4 which high beams on is right..
but there is something wrong with the highs being on slightly with just the low beams..
Do you think there could be something wrong with the bulbs themselves? Have you tried disconnecting one bulb at a time to see if it changes? Also did you check the grounds at the core support?
When I purchased my 87 there was a problem with the lights and the ground wire on the drivers side was cut.

I would just check the connection at the low beam headlights. I seem to remember a time when my highs would light up very dim when the switch was set to low. I wiggled the low beam connectors on each side until that issue disappeared. That is assuming you have a OEM-like replacement headlight.

Now, if you went the conversion route (I also did that in the past, but since went back to OEM-style setup), you'll need to rotate the connectors clock-wise (if memory serves) by one position for them to function properly. Otherwise, they won't even come on. The conversion just didn't illuminate as bright as I thought it would. The housing design may have been the reason. I dunno.
