Re: Ive hit a snag with finding....
I've had this exact problem, that's why I just kept and repainted my painted step bumper.
Here's some NOS chrome step bumpers, it's $450 but its NOS. http://www.classicparts.com/1979-91-...info/65-073GC/ |

Re: Ive hit a snag with finding....
why not just have your bumper re-chromed?

Cut the rivets off the hitch plate and have it recromed then bolt it back on thats what the replater is going to do any way.

Re: Ive hit a snag with finding....
well the thing with re-chroming it is ive been to a few different chroming shops and they say because of the diamond plating and because on the hitch plate the chrome wont catch very well between the cracks

if you take the rivets off and separate the hitch plate from the rest of the bumber then they won't have to worry about not being able to get the chrome plating into the cracks...

Please don't force me to lock Allens86 thread. This is not a "wanted to buy" post.

Re: Ive hit a snag with finding....
I used to get Step bumpers chromed all the time , they always replaced the diamond plating with thicker material and then welded the seam and as far as the hitch plate I never experienced a problem with them and one of them actually stayed in the family for 20 years and although a little scratched was still in awesome shape.I,m thinking your chrome plating shop just cant be bothered taking the time, that seems to happen with alot of stuff anymore
