Anyone make thier own trac bars?

Any ideas, got mine dropped 5 in the rear thought maybe i could cut the bar in half and make some sort of adjustment make up for the drop.

I did...since I'm going with a sheetmetal Ford 9-inch rearend housing, the back of the housing extends quite a bit further than a factory-style housing. This required me to move the panhard/track bar and mounts further back, and I fabricated an elongated J-bar-type of panhard bar with a threaded rod end (poly bushed) that mounted to the back of the passenger side trailing arm. The J-bar design was used so itwould pass under the back of the housing and to accommodate the extreme rear drop. I used chassis tabs to fabricate my mounts to the frame and trailing arm. I hadn't welded in the gusset on the back of the trailing arm when my wife snapped the photo, but it should give you an idea of what I did. I hope this helps.

I suppose it just depends on where you look. Being from the Offroad world I have a tendacy to well look at those places.

Im sure there are tons more. I just did a quick look on Google. Of course there are different types of rod ends.
Johnny Joints, cartidge joints, Heim joints, poly, rubber. Just depends on what your poison is I guess.

Mine were left over stuff from past projects that I cobbled together. You can get them from most of the race and street rod component retailers, such as Speedway Motors, Art Morrison, Applied Racing Technology (A.R.T.), etc. Look/ask for the polyurethane-bushed rod ends. Or, you can buy a panhard bar (new or used) and modify it - these usually come with the ends and bushings.

Thanks guys , forgot to mention i am cheap, 40$ per rod end vs. 59$ for whole trac bar from cpp, i think i got my answer.

Your Cheap, heck I got my entire truck for $400 and I might of landed a 350 for $150.

Pays to be thrifty and shop. Sometmes you might get a better deal to buy a new setup or build depending on the quality of the final product of course.

Made mine from solid 3/4" round stock then made the ends and made it solid for now no bushings then made a quickie mnt for trailing arm to get me buy till now. This was so I could drive it back home and now it sets with nothing holding rearend center because it won't be moving for a while. Once I get the drop done I will make new mounts and make the bar straighter or I might fab some kind of watts link.

my burb is lowered 5" in the rear and just bent mine for now and it works fine
