just finished my interior, on my 86 short bed truck, it came from callifornia and is very clean,i put new carpet had the seat repaired stock radio, dash bezel and a new dash pad, if i could offer some advice dont use a cheap dash pad i got mine from classic ind and would not recommend them, next time i will spend a little more and buy a GM pad, i just dont like the way it fits, in the spring i will pull it off and shave the inside a little so it will sit right, the clips are all the way in its just not right, any one else have this problem. i also had the mags refinished i will put them back on in the spring but i kind of like the rallys

truck looks great! i know what you mean about aftermarket dash pads they dont fit exactly right,, but they are workable compared to a GM one..
what are the plans for the truck after the winter?

The aftermarket dash pads, like Dashes Direct for example, SUCK...plain and simple. I got one for my 73 years back, hated it, hated how it looked and felt, and hated how it fit. I sold it! There has been a few threads in recent weeks/months covering the same issue. You are not alone.

thanks guys, bob i plan on doing brakes all around, i like the height dont want to lower, i know most of you guys think im nuts, but i wish it was a 4x4 really so that plus sending units in both tanks, i just replaced the switch valve now i can switch tanks and i put plugs and delco wires on, but im going to put the western wheels back on now that i had them refinished you can kind of see them in this picture. thanks again. joe

nice truck!!!! I like the wheels better then the ralleys. I wish i could put mine inside for the winter... insteade she sit in the same old spot. And i know what u mean about wanting a 4x4. Hopeful soon I can get one just to have fun with instead of waxing paint......

Hey, I don't think you're nuts for wishing it was a 4x4! I like the step 4x4s! I like all 4x4s, but I'm a bit biased!

I FEEL TERRIBLE AFTER Isaw your replies on dashes direct pads. Ibought one , but havent tried putting it on yet. What is the main problem with them . Im not a perfectionest but I WILL LIKE FOR IT TO LOOK & FIT AT LEAST OK 7IT WOULD still be a vast improvement over the one Itoo k off.
And arent the gm pads 5-600 dollar range.

I cant speak for the dashes direct pads but the one i got from classic ind, just wont fit around the bezel and was real high at the left speaker and no metal behind it where the bezel screws into it, but with a little more work it will have to do... joe

I got the regular GM dash pad and even that didn't fit exactly right. Took a little "tweeking" to get it to sit right. I can only imagine how far out aftermarket ones are. I hate spending money so I usually go GM factory parts whenever I can so I don't have to spend twice.jim

Almost 2 years of work, but it was really worth the effort. Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.
