Steering wheel help.

Hi so i am trying to figure out how to remove a steering wheel from a late 80s astro van, You know the 4 spoke steering wheel. i think it will look pretty sweet, anyway i took the nut of of the center but i cant seem to get it off, i dont see any other screws or nuts, any help would be great also does anyone know if it will bolt on or what kind of modding i will have to do, thanks.

There should be a couple of threaded holes in the hub to screw in bolts to use with a steering wheel puller. If you don't intend to save the column you can put push up on the back side of the wheel with your knees and hit the steering shaft with a good sized hammer. It will probably ruin the shaft though but the wheel should come off.

The proper way is to use a steering wheel puller and they are fairly inexpensive and usually come with an assortment of bolts to use with them.

ok thanks ill try to do the knee trick, i dont plan to save the colum because its at the local u-pull-it, but thanks for your help.

I've had decent luck pulling wheels at the junkyard by loosening the nut but not removing it, then bracing myself in the seat and yanking hard on the wheel a couple of times. Member dirtball has seen me do this and he gets quite a kick out of it.
