Finally i have pics of Her.

I have purchased this back in feb 07 for 1400.00 up in stockton ca. Seemed like a bargain at first until the transmission went out on the way home, right before i hit the grapevine. 2 months later the 305 took a dive. I replaced it with a 350 i pulled out of my old corvette that was sitting in the yard. Yanked the intake replaced it with a edelbrock along with a 1406. Also installed edelbrock headers and y pipe, (re coated by olymic coatings down in escondido, ca..you guys are the best), with a flowmaster with the exhaust exiting before the rear tire. I put roller rockers on it and replaced the cam. Not sure of the numbers on the cam because i was rushing too much to get it back on the road but the machinest i bought it from told me its the biggest cam you can get before you have to start messing with the heads. I know shame on me but i guess i was to excited and rushed at the same time. I have to say its been a long journey and i have a ways to go but i would not trade it for anything. Out of all the cars i have owned this is by far the funnest to drive.

Re: Finally i have pics of Her.

Nice truck. I just picked up a 84 stepper and I`m gathering parts to yank the 305 and drop a 350 in.

Re: Finally i have pics of Her.

Thanks,
I had an 84 vette that, now that i look back shouldnt have torn apart, i ended up parking because a continuous problem and decided i would make more money parting out. Im really trying to find out if there is anything else i can use on the truck from it.
Vettes are fun but everyone has one, couple that along with parts and up keep being higer than Giraffe P@#$#y its a nice change. Trips to the wrecking yard are actually worth while as well. I lived with my grand mother for a few years in a small town in oklahoma, and thats where i learned alot about cars and where i saw a ton of trucks. I barely see shortbed square bodies out here in los angeles. Now i feel like im back home again.

Re: Finally i have pics of Her.

No stories from me just but the motor from the vette has a tale or two i would say. Truck hasnt been on the road long enough for me get into any trouble yet. Everytime i get one thing fixed on it something else goes wrong, but its all good now.
I lived with my grandmother for a few years in a town named Ada. Its south east of norman.

Re: Finally i have pics of Her.

Like the custom carpet pad on the dash! I know it must come in handy to cover up those cracks that form over the years. Right now I am using electrical tape to hide the ones in my '86. I thinking about a temporary fix and use a vinyl repair kit.

Re: Finally i have pics of Her.

Yeah it does have some cracks in the dash lol..The carpet came with it so figured i would keep it on. Truck was filthy when i took it home. I spent a whole day and when through about 5 bottles of simple green and water to get it cleaned out. Seemed like i would scrub and then the dirt would just come back 5 min later.

I know this might be off topic but..Im trying to figure something out that i just noticed about the truck. I was reading in another thread about warm up. It doesnt seem to need to warm up anymore. I start it ,it fires right up, but i notice that it doesnt idle high like it use to. Before i had done to it i would give it a tap and it would kick down. Now it wont kick down, however It doesnt seem to be idling too high at all. It has a nice mellow tone to it that stays consistent. It like its warmed up already ,although i know thats not the case, because i even tried just taking off without letting it warm up once or twice inthe morning. Im just thinking should i leave well enough alone? Or should i try lowering the idle down on it. Im new with carburetion but even the fuel injected cars kick down.
Yeah man i lived about three miles out of town. I graduated from Vanoss. I loved playin you guys in baseball. You guys were our arch rivals back in those days.
