I was putting my TH400 back in my truck last weekend, and while my dad was griping at me about something I forgot to throw a quart of fluid into the converter before I got it on the transmission. I didn't remember until I had the transmission back in the truck two hours later.

The converter wasn't totally empty though. There's still fluid inside the converter, but not a quart. Should I just go ahead with filling it up and continue, or should I pull the transmission to throw a full qt. in the converter?

Decisions decisions...

don't sweat it, just add the rest of the fluid and fire it up...

add 4 quarts, start the engine for 10 seconds or so, add another 4 quarts start the engine again. Add another 2-3 quarts then start checking it. They'll hold 11-12 quarts total.

If you add it all at once you'll have trany fluid puking from the vent.
