Motor Mount Question 73-87 X-Member on 69 frame

Any out there with a 73-87 front X-member on a 69 frame with a picture of the motor mounts bolted on. Did you have any problems or alignment issues using 73 era motor mounts and a small block. Were you able to use the front set of holes on the frame and did you have to drill any holes for the motor mounts. I have all of the holes done to mount the X-Member to the Frame.
I hope someone will tell me not to worry about go ahead and take all to the powder coater it will all line up.

Yes it will work. I did It on my 72 blazer. You will have to be sure that you get the big block motor mount brackets so they aren't to tall. You will have to drill a hole or two but it will definately work. I don't have pics

You need to drill one hole on the top frame rail I believe. The holes in the 73 and up crossmeber will match up if you use the 73 and up mount. There is no BBC or SBC with the 73 and up style, they are all one in the same.

Re: Motor Mount Question 73-87 X-Member on 69 frame

My project is located in the east Texas Piney Woods part of Texas. I am now using the AT&T Web Connect internet service. I very seldom get a good signal there to check the board, I bought one of those signal boosters but it did not help on the last trip. I am back in civilization now where I can use the internet. I bolted my cross member back on. The holes on top of the frame line up with the 73 era motor mount brackets. The holes on the x-member it's self do not line up, when the brackets are bolted down on the holes on top of the frame. When I return to East Texas, I am going to pull the motor out of a 88 1/2 ton to make sure I get the right line up. I will need to drill on top of the frrame or on the x-member

I have a 78 crossmember in my 67 and use motor stands and mounts from a 69. I can get whatever pics you would like.

Thanks but I want to use the 73 era mounts. I have a set of 69 mounts, which I will use if the 73's do not work out for me.

Re: Motor Mount Question 73-87 X-Member on 69 frame

I am back in Galveston County now, where I have internet service. I did the search thing before I started on my frame. I found that FAQ's on the x-member and motor mounts. I also found a post that said there were different x-member heights in this truck era. I deciced to bolt everything up drill the required holes as I progressed due to that post.
I will be going back to the Piney Woods in a week or so hope to get a motor and trany bolted up then. I need to order a trany cross member if anyone knows which one works best. I lost all of my Copperhead recordings, one was shown on a episode I had recorded.
