I,m not having any luck with the dble faced tape they sell to put on the trim on the 78, comes unstuck after a year or so,anything out there better

I know what your talking about.I did all the trim on mine.When i could i utilized the stock hole's and fastner's that will fit into trim.I even drilled some hole's to avoid having to use the tape.But.i still have spot's where it's not against the panel's like i would like.I had to use the tape in some spot's.There's a good body shop supply store in my town that carry's the fastner's i also got some from the dealer.It's a struggle also because of the fit quality of the aftermarket trim isn't the greatest.

Hell some of mine's coming off and it's only been on a month. I bought some extra of the clips with the tape on them from classic parts of america, and they're doing good and even pull the trim closer to the body than the ones that came WITH the trim. As enough comes loose to get the trim off, I been scraping the crap tape off the tabs and replacing it with some 3M Super Sticky emblem Tape. I'd recommend doing that when installing ANY of the trim, NEW OR OLD.

That's a good idea boatpuller, about drilling extra mounting holes. I have a bunch of the clips leftover from the trim kit that were WRONG, so maybe I can use some of them for that...

I agree, the tape you get with the after market trim is so bad that we couldn't even peel it off to stick it on so we scraped it all off and replaced with new.

I have seen drywall screws used. It looks like crap, but it doesn't fall off....

I used panel bond on mine. It will never come loose like that sticky tape.
