Help?! 66 Throttle Linkage to 4bbl carb. Need ideas!!

I have included a few pis. I have a 66 with the stock style gas pedal. As you can see I have a straight rod going to the carb. With two springs for safety. The thing is its a little stiff. I am looking for ideas on how to mount up a clean way to have throttle springs. I have seen the high dollar Jegs and Summit mounting brackets.. I am just too cheap. This is rat rod and I want to keep it simple and clean. I have a Edelbrock Air gap intake carter AFB as you can see. Any of you fellas do anything different or have any better ideas? I am not a fan of the el cheapo chrome throttle spring bracket i have on the manifold. Help guys. I want to see how you have done yours. I love to get new ideas.

Moroso bracket and return springs, 67 Camaro 396 throttle rod (which is adjustable for length). Neither was particularly expensive.

I'm not sure if this will help, or not, but are you able to shorten the throttle rod a little to allow the throttle bracket to clock/tilt forward a few degrees? This might help a little with pedal leverage.

Looks to me like your upper spring is in the wrong location. Can you move it to the small hole below. That is where it is spose to be. Also remove the lower spring all together and find a longer spring for the upper. Ideally what it is spose to have is a two springs one inside the other. This acts as a safety.

Doesn't get more ghetto RatRod than this...I didn't have a mount for my spring, so what I did, if you look closely....I drilled a tiny hole thru the side of the protruding brass pipe plug, and clipped the spring there. Light weight spring, stock rod type linkage, on an Edelbrock carb.

Looking at your pics bird7263, I see that the thermostat housing you are using has the little tab on it with the hole......that's where the OEM hooked the throttle spring for a few years. And I agree that you should run a double spring like 502tripower mentioned
