Tank Replacement (making room)

Will a 90 burb tank fit in the rear frame of a '68 c-20? I came across a sweet deal, but want to make sure it fits with little modification...

measure tank then frame with tape measure is the way i've always done it

I found the dims online, looks like all I would need to do is cut out the spare bracket....Do I need to change anything under the dash so it will track the same?

got the new tank in last night....I havent figured out how to make the fuel gauge work yet. On the sending unit there are two wires, purple and black. Assuming the Purple is positive (mutlimeter reading) how would this configureation work with the exisiting dash mount fuel meter, as it was based on resistance? Any experience out there?

hook your existing wire to the purple and run the black one to a GOOD ground. all GMs work on the same range: 0 ohms = empty and 100 ohms= full

sweet, I'll try in the am...Thank you....Now that the tan wire is cut, what should it read prior to connecting to the purple (base line reading)?

could you post some pics of your fuel tank conversion and filler neck. What difficulties did you run into. How did you strap it into the frame?

wrong. 67-72 are 0-90ohm and the later are 0-30 ohm
I am also trying to put a different tank in my pickup and thst is a hold up for me.

Not correct. The '90 tank has a 0-30 scale. Best you'll get is ~1/3 of a full tank... no matter how much you fill it. Or... there are rework kits out there for either end (sender or gauge).

Ready? Hooked it up, meter continue to read (over) full..Disconnected the Tan lead from the fuse panel, same thing, so it wasnt catching the reading from the fuse block. Then I pulled the bezel...Found it....Where the cluster connected to the bezel, the bottom 4 leads were crossed (lifted from the circuit board). Had to make a trip to the Wal just for super glue(ughh)....Glued down the leads, hooked it up and It worked. I have just over 3/4 of a tank of fuel....Nice.....

My camera is dead and charging the batt now, when its up (tomorrow, gettin dark now) I'll post some pics.

The strps and the sending unit came with the tank, i had to modify the other fuel lines (Cut and soldered shut) and tak out the in pump fuel pump. Then before I pulled my old tank I used my existing exterior fuel pump to pump the gas into the new tank. Eorked like a charm. Then ran new 3/8" fuel line to the exisintg fuel pump....Its pretty sweet....
