Cool! I love road trip/ get together pictures and stories. I am really digging that GMC. Is that 6 cyl pic the engine for that big dooley GMC though? If so must be a 292.

Re: Bucket made a Roadtrip (Pics)

I think he ment the one IN the daulie!
That GMC is equipped rather interestingly...
A Grande... but as a Cab chassis.
A Grande... but with an inline.
Power brakes were odd in inline trucks, the offset air filter is a HARD to find part.

Re: Bucket made a Roadtrip (Pics)

ahhhhh... after looking agin... that's not the originan cab! There's no clearance lights on the roof, that was a required option on all cab chassis trucks starting in 68.
Still a very neat truck!

Re: Bucket made a Roadtrip (Pics)

Very neat. In this v8 or nothing world it is cool to see a big old work truck with an inline engine. Should of said this earlier but BOTH the GMC and the gold chevy are very cool!

Re: Bucket made a Roadtrip (Pics)

We just rolled back in a little while ago. i will post my pics and after i figure out how to get them off this new fangled camera. That 292 cruised all day at just over 3k and never skipped a beat. i calculated 12 to 13 mpg to boot!

Great to meet Bob and his dad! Carson & I had an awesome day.

Great looking trucks, it would be fun to have an old classic to use as a heavy hauler! I really love the stance and look of your gold truck though.

Re: Bucket made a Roadtrip (Pics)

I don't have Longhornman's knack for story telling so i won't try:

Started out with a 70 c30, a five-year old and an excuse for a roadtrip.

Picture 1: Carson watching his favorite movie: Smokey & The Bandit

Picture 2: Rock steady oil and temp readings. Cruising at 60 & 3k RPMs.

Picture 3: Bob's SWEET 50th. The 355 sounds MEAN! Awesome stance, wheels and just the right patina.

And yes, Andy, and there was plenty of Mtn Dew but no pictures of it.

Re: Bucket made a Roadtrip (Pics)

WOW....looks like too much fun! Great trucks and a great time. Now I am going to have to get my tach working!!!!!!!! I had to take my Longhorn out for a drive last night after seeing those pics.

Gas at $1.95 a gallon did not hurt! Heard this morning that it was $1.53 in Dayton, Ohio....scary!
