sagging door

So I have the driver side door...it sags horribly...i replaced the pins and bushings...still sags horribly...these are the hinges that are welded on to the door...what can I do?? I also had to replace the spring and the roller pin...PITA without a spring compressor...anyway, what can I do to get this door from sagging!?! right now we have a shim under so that it pushes it up when you close it, but this is a major temporary fix...by the way it's a 89 c1500....HELP...thanks =)

Re: sagging door

Its welded? they are usually apoxied on from factory, if its welded it must have been into before by somebody... if so they could have got it crooked or something.. You have any pics?

Re: sagging door

if it's epoxied it's strong @ss epoxy...from what I have read, I thought it was like welded from inside the door...I could be wrong, chances are I probably would be...but there are definately no bolts that's for sure...i do see seam sealer that's around the hinge itself...I did replace the bushings, but I think they may have gotten a little bent up, I found a better way to do it after the fact and i'll try that way...do you think this will help?? Is there a better/additional way to correct the problem?

Re: sagging door

Its not Epoxied or Glued....Its welded......There are 4 say 5/16ths welds that hold the hinge to the body....How is the fender to door Gap.....Tight at the bottom and wide at the top???.One thing to try is to grab the door, from the bottom and (rear) and pull up......More than likely you will have to adjust the striker but,my guess is that over time the sagging door (from either pins or bushings) has dented or dimpled the door its self....(around where the hinge is one the door) look for any signs there......Just grab the bottom rear of the door and lift....lol be and man about it.....There strong....lol......You are just basically trying to undo what was done.....Again there may be some striker issues but i always get doors to line up with out the added lift or drop that a striker may give....so IMO just remover the striker until the desired line is in place....Then adjust the striker to the door .....................Hope this helps.........

Re: sagging door

you can definately pick the door up a good bit...not as much now that i replaced the pins, but still a good bit...is there a write up on how to adjust the strikers? i've never done this before...i'll do a search, but maybe someone knows one right off for some reason...thanks for the suggestions so far.

Re: sagging door

Take a good look at the holes in the hinge that hold the bushings. On mine, they got wallowed out , if that
s the case you have to replace the hinges. You can get them from GM, or aftermarket, and they bolt on. You will have to drill some holes.

Re: sagging door

here's a blonde moment coming...I just realized that there's two different size bushings for top and bottom...so looks like i'm going to need to replace the bushings...i saw in a different post someone asked how difficult it is to replace the pins one at a time, w/o taking the door off...is this doable? there's very little play, so it makes a little sense that i have the wrong bushing in...also, i'm missing the door striker bolt bushing...would this also help?

Re: sagging door

Seems like I paid a body shop around $100 bucks to replace the bushings in my door hinges on the driver's side. On the passengers side, we used a specific tool designed to help align doors. It utilizes the latch pin on the door post and the latch on the door. Some muscle is involved, but the door can be aligned to allow for proper closure.
