any photoshoppers with mad skillz wanna mess around with paint colors?

I have photoshop.. but I can't seem to do this the way I want.

this isn't my truck.. but.. its sorta what mine will look like when its done (only a 67, so no eyebrow trim and no side markers.. thats about it)

I was wondering if someone could take this truck....

and make it the color of the car in the next reply.

I like this color, but I'm not sure how it will look on a truck.. if you know the GM name for this color that'd be great too.. as yall know I'm WAY from being done.. but I want some insight as to what I'm goin to look like.

That Camaro is kick a$$! That is my all time favorite car,
69' Z28/RS I don't think I will ever be able to afford one. Unless I bought one that was junk and took 10 years to build. They are fine car.

Dark Fox, you might try the new Pewter color that GM has. I have it on my HD and love it.

As for Blue, Acura has a dark blue on their cars that is just about as pretty as it comes. It is one of those looks black at night and like you can stick your hand in it in the sun.

I went to a body shop and asked them if I could borrow a paint chip book to get started. I then drove around dealers lots looking at different colors.

Good luck

I really like that color, a friend of mine has it on his S-10.. but I'm hesitant to say thats what its gonna be out of fear that it may wind up looking plain.

I want tihs truck to look like a sport truck, something clean, yet not 100% shaved, something sporty, yet not a lowrider, I want large rims, but not like 20s or anything.. its really hard to explain, I can't even picture it that well heh

btw full body off restoration? that sounds serious lol, dont think I could call mine that.. its more of a patchwork or a frankenstein

cost? uuh, well the programs like $700 I think.. its the program web design firms look for you to be able to use it seems, I'm not too terriblly good at it yet, but having 7 years experience in corel makes me a bit more familiar with how the system works, what with layers and most of the filters the program has. I just haven't mastered it yet, I'm trying to learn as I go.

correct me if I'm wrong guys, but did you go about the color transform by taking a sample from one of the other pics, and then creating a mask using the magnetic lasso and simply applying this with a transparent brush? this is what I've tried in the past and I find that my masks from the magnetic lasso are constantly substandard.

I did take a sample from the other photos but I created a path with the pen tool. I then made a selection from the path and on a new layer I did a fill with the new color. I then set the layer to "Color" or "Multiply". Sometimes, you will need to do multiple layers in varying modes to get the desired color. Sometimes, a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer is the best way to adjust the color. Some.

I posted the layered photoshop file to my server if you want to download it and see what I did. this one is a pretty simple one since the base color of the image is easy to manipulate. I also posted a image i did for another member that was a bit more complicated. The two files are on my server at http://info.imageink.com/chris/photoshop
the files are trucklayers.psd and yandwtruck.psd

These are both low res images pulled from this web site and the photoshop work is quick and dirty. I'm a desiger so I use photoshop a lot. I have had layered files open with over 100 layers and 1.3gigs. Photoshop is a very powerful program and is extremely RAM intensive. My computer is a Mac G4 with 1.2GIGs of RAM. If anyone does buy photoshop, make sure that you have at least 256MB of RAM. The more ram you have, the faster photoshop processes.

Dan, i use photoshop 7, they all are about the same, jsut a few addons and improvments. As for learning, its all over the net. Just search for dif photoshop sites with examples and if they got .psd files its good to get your hands on to see it with full layers. As we would spend days on end trying to teach photoshop thru posts, the best way is on the web. Ill look tonight for some links to post for you guys.

I like the newer pewter shade, I think it would look great on a 67-72.
