Hey fellas, look at this truck and see if you see what I do

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...QQcmdZViewItem

The seller goes into long detail about the truck, but I think he left out the biggest modification. Am I seeing things or is there something going on here ?

The truck looks like a heck of a deal for 8k. Big block, gear vendors OD unit, rebuilt rearend by Randys, on and on. Very well built. Looks like he pulled no punches on the build and went all the way.

Re: Hey fellas, look at this truck and see if you see what I do

Besides the cab, he states several things about a TH400 with a GV OD unit, but the truck has a 4 speed shifter. It has no clutch pedal, and a Lokar shifter in the floor. I can't figure out what the 4 speed shifter is hooked up to though???

Re: Hey fellas, look at this truck and see if you see what I do

He states it was bought at Barrett Jackson a few years ago. It must be pretty nice then. That extra few inches of cab depth sure would be nice.
$20,000 all day long I think is quite a stretch but he'll sell it now for $8,000. ?
I like it.

does the OD have a shifter? never seen one before.
if not then I would say its a trans parking brake?
Is that a large window?

Re: Hey fellas, look at this truck and see if you see what I do

I wonder if the tall one is the locar shifter (made to look like a 4 speed) and the other lever is a PTO of sorts? There is a lot left out of the description... aftermarket heat and a/c is normally a bragging point when selling.

Re: Hey fellas, look at this truck and see if you see what I do

The tall shifter is the Lokar shift handle http://www.lokar.com/product-descrip...ia-shifter.htm
While the one beside it is a emergency brake handle http://www.lokar.com/interior_pages/...rake_frost.jpg. Again I think that is also Lokar.
Note that in the interior view from the passenger side you don't see an emergency brake pedal or handle over on the far side of the steering wheel.
There have been times when I wished I had a couple of extra inches of leg room and the bucket seats almost require a longer cab interior to work but I agree that it would have looked better with the doors stretched.

Re: Hey fellas, look at this truck and see if you see what I do

After a little more looking, it is a '67 cab (you can tell by the ashtray and the ignition key) , so I wonder if it was a small rear window cab that was stretched and had the large window added. It appears that the bed was designed to replace a standard 8' box, and if it was, there would be a 6 inch gap because the 1 tons had a 6 inch longer 133" WB. Maybe the cab was stretched to take up that space. The fuel tank was obviously moved since the filler neck is gone, and it appears the seats set a little further back than the factory one would have been. I don't necessarily like the look of it, but I imagine that extra leg room and maybe even a little behind the seat storage would be nice.

Also, if I had it, I'd add a set stainless trim rings like I did on my '67 C-30. It makes the wheels look totally different.

Re: Hey fellas, look at this truck and see if you see what I do

I'm wondering where the switch for the GV unit is. On my K-30 i have a big red button on a switch clamped to the top of the shift lever just below the knob. I have seen 2 speed rear ends and commercial trucks with similar switches. with it mounted anyplace else ( and i looked and didn't see anything looking like a GV switch in any pics) I think it would be very dificult to engage while driving and shifting especially when splitting the gears.

Re: Hey fellas, look at this truck and see if you see what I do

Could it be that the cab actually was a camper type of RV that was open originally then modified to what it appears to be now. Thinking 72rs/ss had a cab from something like that and was completly open and needed a cab back to make it a pick up cab. Just a thought!

Good question. I was wondering the same. He appears to have 2 floor mounted dimmer switches, so maybe one of the is for the OD unit. That would be pretty slick if that's what it actually is. .

Good point, Uncle has a couple of ex-camper C-30's with the rear of the cab cut out.

The engine swap is just the tip of the iceberg on modifications, so why not do a 454.

67 C-30, The second dimmer switch is a common Gear Vendors switch location, so I'd bet that's what it is.

I saw the truck @ the AZ GoodGuys show last year. It was in the swap meet area & caught my attention from quite a distance away. Looked pretty solid then but I wouldn't purchase a stretched cab w/o reference pics of/during the build.

The bed set-up was clean.

Interesting set-up, Could be a nice tow rig. Not bad for that price.

Exactly. A decent 454, TH400, Gear Vendors OD unit and freshly rebuilt rearend is worth a mint alone. The nicely done modifications to the bed and electrical system are a nice bonus too.
