Usually there's a button on the switch itself that releases the knob and the shaft.

pull the lights into the on position, Then push the button on the back of the switch, and pull the knob out of the switch.

By the back of the switch, he means the back side of the dash, and the little spring loaded button is on top of the light switch housing. You will have to hold your tongue just right, and stand on one foot (you'll have to try both to see which one works best), and yank and pull and cuss, but it'll come right out.

And once you have those out and the bezel unscrewed from the dash, you can then pull the complete bezel out and unplug the wire harness. There is a tab on each side to press in then it pulls straight out.

Even easier is to unscrew the speedo cable. Unscrew the steering wheel housing on the bottom of the steering column. Then you can undo the oil pressure line. and the whole dash will come out.

yeah and your dash wont quite pull out until you unhook the oil pressure line...and like 72army said that bolt on the steering wheel housing makes it 999999 times easier to get the dash out...

Choke knobs and 67-70 throttle knobs are threaded, they screw off. 71/72 Throttle knobs use a set screw similar to the wiper knob.

Re: removing 68 dash panel.. !QUICK?

Easiest way to remove choke throttle knob is to pull it out slightly, and then grip the shaft with some small pliars and turn the knob so it unscrews. You might have to pull the knob slightly as you unscrew it.... I had to do this once because someone screwed it down too tight & stripped it.
