has anyone done this?

hey guys, ive been wanting to put caddt lights in my 79, and doing something with the tailgate, something like this



like make it smooth, ive searched it with nothing usefull, has anyone done this? how is it done?

years back a gy did that with an older generation cadillac.. he cut the section of the cadi out and then spot welded it in and filled it like you would do a patch panel.. it requires alot of work , skill and expertise in bondo to make it come out looking right tho

I've seen that truck in person, and it's one nice piece of work. The conversion, while well done, does not look that great. It just looks funky and while it is different, different doesn't mean cool.

There was a company that made that full shaved skin in years past. I think it was Mar-k kustoms. I have a friend with a smooth tail on his 78. I'll have to ask...

im pretty sure that truck has a grant kustoms roll pan and tailgate skin on it.

roll pan and tailgate skin, you can also buy the filler panels for the stock lights and buckets to weld in for the caddy lights

i agree . i bought the grant kustoms skin and rollpan combo with the lower filler pieces. i had everything to do the caddy lights but went to all truck nationals and saw way to many sets of them.so going for custom lights

yea im gonna try to score some caddy lights from my local junk yard and do some custom stuff to make them work. and i was thinkin about getting the 3rd brake light outta the same caddy and put in where my cargo light it now
