Cab front clip alignment, after frame swap

I tried to do a cab front clip swap onto a 69 frame this weekend.

Three problems.
1) cant line up all four of the cab mounts to get all four bolts in at same time and not have it too close to the bed.
2) new rubber mounting kit from Brothers did not come with the crush sleeves should I reuse old crusty ones or not use them at all.
3) purchased the 67-68 radiator mount kit and it does not work on the 69 Frame. Looks like it will have to be the 69 up radiator kit instead. Even these holes did not line up that well.

What is the best way to align the cab and front clip on the six mounting points, besides using a lift that I dont have?

The only thing I can think of is using jack stands.

maybe someone else has something that they can add?

you need the crush sleeves for sure. I would buy new. as far as moving the cab around to line up dont know if you have someone to help but you can push up on the doorframe while someone else pushes or pulls front to back to align. get one side started with one bolt then go to the other side and do the same. once you have one started on both side you should be good.

I just called the vendor, Brothers, and asked them about the sleeves. Their add states that it comes with all hardware. That is not the case the sleeves are not included and they currently do not even offer them. Their web sites states spacers not included but will have to look at catalog when I get home. I should have realized that someone selling a kit that others are selling for a higher price would have issues.

This is the first time that I have been let down by a supplier of new parts. Some of it was my fault for not checking closer as to what the kit included. IT will be the last time with this vendor that I make that mistake. There are many other places to purchase from, I'lljust have to pay better attention. My next buy comes from a site supporter. ( I was in a bind for these and had to order them air from a west coast company to meet deadline )

np, i bought my kit from gmcpauls (www.gmcpauls.com) Robbin is a vendor here as well. Look them up and see if they can sell you just the crush sleeves.

From the Bothers catalog. Vol 9, no. 4. Page 92. "Brothers cab and body mounting sets are top notch. They include all original type rubber bushings and hardware. A great way to freshen up your daily driver and with quality and correctness that is perfect for the most critical restorer too. Each complete set comes with necessary pads, bushings, shims, sleeves, nuts, bolts and washers." Well it seems to me that maybe they're uninformed on the meaning of the word complete. I would also suspect that a company of this size that must rely upon reputation in the restoration world would remedy the error.

If it's too close to the bed, loosen the bed and move it back some.

If you jack the cab higher than the mounting pads, you should be able to angle/slip the bolts in, then measure side to side and front to back to get the cab square on the frame.

For the front use shims/washers or do you need to remove stuff/rubber is too high?
