Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
I know I know!! I'm running late! Our hotel had wireless issues and I didn't have internet again til Sunday. I figured I'd just wait it out and post em up once I got home and back on the desktop.
So, yes, We broke out the C10 for the 500+ mile trip (each way) to Daytona for the Turkey Run. If you've never been, you should go! There's thousands of cars everywhere you look, and more parts and vendors than time will allow you to see. On the trip down we kept smelling a foul odor. It would come and go and we really smelt it when we would stop for gas. I kept thinking "what stinks so damn bad in south Georgia and Florida?" We made it to our hotel and when we came back out after checking in the truck wouldn't crank. Turns out the voltage regulater on the altrernator had went bad and had overcharged and fried the battery. Fortunatly I had a toolbox to pull the parts and a buddy that was right down the road to pick me up for that ride to the parts store. The alternator had a lifetime warranty and the battery was pro-rated so I got out for less than $40. Anyway...on to the pics!!! Christy shot these of a trailer we were behind on I-75. Every time we saw a 54 Christy was a bit bummed that hers had to stay home. |

Some shots from the 5th floor of where we were staying. These are looking over towards the Bel air plaza.

Re: Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
Who's gonna be the first to step up and drop one of these in a 67-72?? Yes...That's a ZR1, I'm not really digging the clear scoop... Or the price with the 40K markup! We talked to a guy that said he was going to buy one but his insurance agent said he wouldn't be able to write him a policy. poor guy had to settle for a Z06. Nother 54.. |

Re: Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
I heard the owner of this truck had been trying to sell it for quite a while...It sold right after he had the signage done.
I really like the grapefruit yellow. Probably one of my favorite pics of the weekend. |

Re: Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
We found Christy a nice cooler at a good price in the swap meet. Only thing it needed was some stripes. We had met Skratch at the Bel Air on Wed night and hung out for a few, she wanted him to do the work and he was happy to oblige.
That's Barry Grant in the light shirt and shades. Skratch is a genuine gearhead and all around nice guy. Just after I took this shot he asked me "Isn't your wifes name Christy?" I said yea and he then painted "To Christy" under where he had signed it. |

Re: Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
Cool plate on the Lambo...The owner was a pretty nice dude. He even let Christy sit in it to see how it felt. All Georgia Hobby Antique plates start with "HA" . This one seems to read "HATE ASA". Since my name is Asa I was really wondering what I did to tick this guy off. I found out later that I knew the guy, he is actually the striper that did my camera.....I told him I gotta have that plate! |
