Power Window Motors

Does anyone know how long it REALLY takes to swap out the power window motors in an '89? I have new motors and the shop says it takes 8 hours to swap out the window motor on ONE door. I can't imagine it takes that long. It didn't take me that long to swap out the front axle and all four springs (without air tools)!

Any advice is appreicated!

Thanks!

Re: Power Window Motors

Thanks, Malo83! Good info.
How difficult is it to get the regulator out of the door and how long did it take you to do both motors?

Re: Power Window Motors

Thanks, Captkaos!
I guess 8hrs is a little off the mark!

I'll probably attempt them myself.

Thanks everyone for responding!

Re: Power Window Motors

One more question...

Is it difficult to remove/replace the glass from the regulator channel?

Re: Power Window Motors

Roll it all the way down, make you some clearance around the rear support (I unbolt it) and slide it back to the notch. It can be a pain.

Re: Power Window Motors

if you want to make it really easy then cut holes at the bottom of the door witch gives you access to the bolts and then add speakers

Re: Power Window Motors

bought mine at auto zone. They were about $55.00 each with life time warr. I also made some liners out of thick mil plastic and some thick paper used some spray glue to glue them together. Not to help with noise but also dust and air. seem to be working good. I just installed them yesterday.Hope this helps.
