Got the 425 and the TH350 in the back of the GMC...along with a folding engine hoist and my engine stand. She is sitting pretty much level now.

Taking them to the shop tomorow, and as soon as we are closed and all cleaned up, I'll be taking them in and having the tranny looked at (if the tranny guy shows up...he's kinda undependable) and another guy is going to give me a hand with removing about 6 or so broken exhaust manifold bolts. If it all gets done tomorow, (not likely) then I will be dropping the engine back in on Sunday.
I got the frame rails drilled for the motor mount towers, frame rails all painted nice and pretty.
Taking the towers in to the shop too, going to take the plazma cutter to them and re-do the hole thing that I kinda butched up.

If all goes well, she may be rumbling (uncorcked) in a week or two! Heck...it might even move under it's own power too! It could happen

Your right about the no place to work and limited funds. I don't think I have dropped a penny into that thing for about 2 maybe 3 months. It has all been just labor. And let me tell you....it's getting COLD out there.

I just wish i felt as dedicated as you imply though. In all reality, I probably have about 20...maybe 30 hrs into the whole thing, not including travel time to Kalamazoo to get the 2nd engine.

I do have to say thanks to all the support I have been getting here...and an honorable mention to fine69 for an extended loan on the engine hoist and all the other help he has been.

After seeing that truck, it makes me want to build a truck with a caddy big block too. Now I just have to figure out how to get a caddy engine for cheap without having to take the car with it

As for what to put it in, there is a yellow 68 or 69 GMC down the street that hasn't been registered for years that would make a perfect sleeper... lol first I need to get the one I have so it will go more than a few weeks without breaking something

Don't forget in Cali you have to pay all the back registration when buying an unregistered vehicle.

That's true, but, if it is more than 4 years they have no record of it, so either way it isn't too bad. It has been a lot more than 4 years since that GMC has been driven anyway. I think I will get an engine and get that ready first, then find something to put it in.

Your right...no tranny yet. the tranny guy never showed, which was a good thing becouse my funding for the seals and filter kit vanished.
Oh well...at least I'm done toting engine hoists around.

But now the bummer part, you have to be under the truck to get that tranny in. I like to drop engine + tranny at the same time if I can.

You wouldn't want to when the engine is as big as this. Plus, i had to persuade the motor mounts into the towers...I didn't trim them enough to drop straight in.
Things to remember next time I do a swap like this. (If I am somehow able to keep the GMC...it'll get Caddy power too)

Ya the engine is big, but you have no front clip.

So are you still installing the GMC clip?

Yup. Fine69 hooked me up with a couple grills instead of my kerfagled one. I still need a couple fenders, but I'm not in too much of a hurry on them. I'll use the bondo filled ones for now. I'll be keeping the greenish hood that was on the longhorn when i picked it up though. Even though it has some rib rust out, it is 10 times straighter than the GMC's.

You should try to keep the GMC. I know all about not having space for everything though. That would be cool with a caddy 500 in it. (you might want to get some new front springs first though... lol)

that is to wierd my LONGHORNILLAC was the same color from the factory what year is yours??? by the way mooneyes said you liked the 500 emblems and wanted some I am trying to get another set made for my longhorn but the guy isn't to motivated. my dad bought a 500 cad years ago (the one the emblems are on) and the guy was planning on puting them on a 6772 so he made them but he said it took to long and he wouldn't do it again
