Rides like a train

Greetings

I have a 72 K10 with about a four inch lift. The problem is it rides like a train. Will pulling two of the load springs out of the front smooth out the ride ? I will need to re arch the spring to bring it back to the four inch lift. Local shop said 250.00 bucks. Will that be money well spent ?

Do you know what brand and type of leaf springs you have now? I would think that they would sag over time if you removed 2 of the leafs. Do they have 5 leafs now?

I have never used them, but a couple of the companies make ez ride or soft ride springs. I think you could buy a whole new front leaf pack for about 350-400$. That may be money more well spent.

Don't know what type. Not here to look at (youngest son has it). It has at least 5 leafs. The shackle bushings are shot and need to be replaced. Some of my 4X4 freaky friends say to drop two leaves and it will make a large diff in the ride

I don't have anything to compare but my 85 Ford F150 with a four inch lift. It has coils on the front and rides a lot better. Will have to look around

I put a set of soft rides on a Jeep with a small block in it,if you wheel it hard those springs are no GOOD they can colapse,if its more of a everyday driver they work great.

How much do you want to spend?? Alcans will run just shy of a grand for custom springs but ride nice.

dump the lift and oversized tires going back to stock it will improve the ride

Actually, all of the trains I have ridden on have been smooth riding...and handled like...they were on...rails... HAHA

Maybe you truck rides more like an empty dump truck?

Those worn out bushings are not helping the ride any. Did the P.O. install a lift without replacing worn parts? not the smoothest move, IMO. I have a 71 Cheyenne I am parting out that has Superlift 4" springs and it rode the same as stock. (Sorry, springs not for sale separately, at least at this point. I am going to try and sell the rolling chassis complete. IMO, taking out leaves will be a temporary fix. It will ride smoother, but they will start to sag, especially if wheeled hard. I would look into some different springs.

I guess it's subjective. My Ford F150 with about the same lift rides much better. Spent more than I had on the 5.3l install. Will have to live with the bounce for a little while. I have a leaky NP205 that will get my time and money this month.
