Do I salvage or replace?

I am at the crossroads where I have to ask myself, do I want to try to salvage OE or replace with aftermarket? Since I suck at these questions I will ask the group"s advise.

Are you talking about those tiny rust holes in the bottom corners of the fenders? If so, I would fix those fenders over settling on Chinese repop aftermarket fenders any day.

I couldn't have said it better.

Re: Do I salvage or replace?

I have a brand new set of chinese fenders I would trade straight across. But you wouldn't want them. Fix your originals.

Stay with as much original sheet metal as possible. You'll thank yourself when you start putting it back together!

Re: Do I salvage or replace?

When i took the 72 front end off the suburban, I took it in pieces instead of the whole clip... I wanted it in small pieces, and, I was alonw and with no hoist.
Anyways, once it was all said and done, I grabbed the two enders, one in my left hand, and one in my right hand. I never weighed them, but that imported repop was REAL light compaired to the (non bondo'd) original. Night and day difference.
inspect the originals real close, esp up inside at the seam, then if still salvagable, fix them.
If they are junk... I would say locate some other 40 year old good ones.

Re: Do I salvage or replace?

I would fix those, but if you get into them & they are junk, then Trip Pro makes some REALLY good ones
