aftermarket brake stuff (calipers, rotors)

does any one make like break upgrade kits for these trucks, like mabey two piston calipers that will bolt right up to our spindles and cross drilled rotors. i seem to remember dave talking about getting some cross drilled rotors. i need to do my breaks bad, but i want to put some cool stuff on the front. i'm just gonna redo the drums with new wheel cylinders, shoes, spring kit, just a basic rebuild on the back.

Try www.StainlessSteelBrakes.com for excellent rotors and more. CKTA and others on FSC say they are awesome. Cross-drilled rotors are known to warp easily. Slotted rotors are the way to go!

I think the drilled rotor's are prone to cracking around the drilled holes if you get them really hot.

Performance Suspension Components sells brake kits and I believe that they are SSBC kits. They are a little cheaper than purchasing directly from SSBC and they offer free freight.

The other thing to consider is do you really need the slotted rotors or could you spend the extra cash somewhere else. If you have visible rotors (open wheels) then the slotted look cool and it would be worth having them plated to maintain the look. If you do a lot of hard braking then they may also be worth the extra cash. If you have all kinds of cash then look at Wildwood brakes.

If the above does not apply then for about 1/3 of the cost you can install premium Raybestos parts. I've used the PGPlus rotors and was quite pleased with them. They also sell loaded calipers, they are complete with pads and hardware.

thanks for the link. i think i might just get there slotted rotors and rebuild my calipers. there 4 piston colipers are tight, but they are to big for 15 inch wheels

Cross drilled rotors do crack around the holes after long term use. Slotted are the way to go. I added some powerslot rotors to the front of my 99 accord v6. It had a habbit of warping rotors since the brakes were under-sized [IMO] Since I put the slotted rotors on, no problems.

Just a suggestion but I personally wouldn't rebuild my own calipers. The rebuilts are dirt cheap, considering they are sandblasted, honed, new seals, new bleeder screw, and new pistons if necessary. If you want wipe them off with a little solvent and give them a coat of paint, header paint works well.

I can get the Loaded Raybestos Calipers in Canada for about $60.00 Canadian (about $36.00 US). They include, rebuilt calipers, premium pads, and mounting hardware. Just something to consider.
