68 info Needed

My uncle called me today and said he has found a 68 lwb and the owner is wanting to sell. He does not have a vin # yet. He tells me this 68 has a 396 engine in it, factory air, maybe 15 or so options. We're going to look at the truck this afternoon.

I thought the 402 was the bb offered in these trucks. Let me know what I should be looking for. I'm not familar with the 68's.

Thanks

They did come with a 396 in 68.

I don't know what your looking for but heres what I wish I would have looked for that is unique to 68's:

What kind of shape are the grill ovals in? (mine were bad and are expensive to replace)
Is the bed from a 68 and in good shape? (Mine was a 72 I wish I knew what I was looking for at the time)

Pete

How can you tell you have a 72 bed?

68 Chevs also have the Side Marker lamps except most of the ones I have seen have all been Reflectors instead of having Bulbs and wires running to the Side Markers.. Who cares if it does have a 72 Bed, as long as the bed is in good shape..

side marker lights started in 68. I thought all the fleet side beds were the same 68-72 with the exception of the longhorn.

Jwill, tha's what I was getten at there.
68 had reflectors standard, as did the '69, but lights were avalile in them too.
And in reality, the Longhorn bed was avalible after March 11th of 68 too.
